Now At 66 ICANN Expects 105 New gTLD Applications To Be Withdrawn Before End of IE

May 17, 2013 by Michael Berkens

In its 2014 budget ICANN expects a total of 646 new gTLD applications will be withdrawn up from its estimate of 545.

We know that there were 1931 applications submitted for 1,409 strings.

So we know that all the non-winning applications in strings with more than one application will be withdrawn accounting for 522 of the 646 applications.

Of the 646 applications it is now budgeting to be withdrawn, 105 are projected to be withdrawn prior to the end of Initial Evaluation at a 70% rate. There are currently 66 new gTLD applications withdrawn and ICANN is expected to release IE up through prioritization number 400 today

390 applications are projected to be withdrawn at the 35% refund rate with the balance of 150 at the lowest refund rate of only 20%.
