Bridgestone Corporation has withdrawn an application for the new gTLD IDN string of 普利司通 with ICANN.
The application which has a prioritization number of 1769.
According to the application:
.普利司通 are the Chinese characters representing “Bridgestone”, meant to be read roughly similar to the pronunciation of “Bridgestone” in English.
“The string doesnʹt hold any particular meaning in Chinese.”
This marks the 39th new gTLD application withdrawn from the ICANN program out of 1,930 applications and is the third new gTLD, IDN application withdrawn.
