Just In Time For Valentine’s Day .The Giftof.Me: Gift Cards For .Me Domains

January 30, 2013 by Michael Berkens

The .ME Registry, operator of the .ME domain extension, has launched TheGiftOf.ME, to offer “the perfect present for Valentine’s Day – personalized gift cards for the purchase of .ME domain names”.

This is another great example of new and creative ways that registries will sell domain names and increase the usage of the extension.

In addition to the Giftcard site, the registry will host a three-day, “cheesy” Valentine Twitter contest.

Ten participants will win a free .ME domain and the opportunity to be featured on the .ME blog.

“This Valentine’s Day, the .ME Registry has partnered with ME-net, Montenegro’s leading registrar, to offer gift cards. “

“The process is simple: shoppers can purchase digital gift cards from TheGiftOf.ME and email them to their loved ones. Recipients can then visit the site, select the .ME domain they want and start building their online presence.

To celebrate this holiday, on Jan. 30, Feb. 6 and Feb. 13, followers of the official .ME Twitter account will have the chance to participate in the #MyCheesyValentine Twitter contest by tweeting funny, witty and unconventional Valentine’s Day greetings. “

“The .ME team will select ten winners, who will be awarded a free .ME domain name registration for one year. Complete rules are posted here”.

“We love the sentiment behind this special day and are thrilled to be sharing love and laughs through our Twitter contest this Valentine’s Day,” said Predrag Lesic, CEO of the .ME Registry. “Our hope is to showcase the creativity of our wonderful community and give people the opportunity to surprise their loved ones with a gift as unique as the person they love – a dot-ME domain name.”

Adoption of the .ME domain extension by the general public and celebrities is rapidly increasing”.

“The extension’s ability to humanize content makes it ideal for personalized online branding”.

“The personal websites of Nick Cannon, , and Suggs McPherson, are excellent examples of high-profile individuals using .ME domains.”

“A Truly Unique Gift, A .ME domain is a wonderful gift for all sorts of people”.

“Bloggers can use a .ME domain for a personal blog”.

“A recent college graduate or job hunter can use a .ME domain to feature a resume. The same is true for artists and individuals looking for a more personal way to showcase what they do online. For those concerned about SEO or online reputation, a .ME domain name can provide a powerful boost to online visibility. The extension is also ideal for a parent who wants to lock down a domain name on behalf of a child or secure a catchy, memorable family email address”.

???……I don’t know what to think about this promotion………though I would guess most women would prefer candy, flowers, jewelry……….unless of course she is “really” into domaining.

If they weren’t already taken, names like BreakUpWith.Me, Divorce.Me, and ItsNotYouIts.Me, would likely be popular choices among those who receive this incredibly romantic gift.
