FreeWebsite.com Sold In January For $500,000

November 5, 2012 by Michael Berkens

According to a press release out this morning, the domain name FreeWebsite.com was purchased in January of this year for $500,000.

The buyer of the domain is Freewebsite, LLC whose CEO Jeff Spicheris quoted as saying:

“Our domain reflects our company’s mission to remove barriers to website ownership by providing high-quality, content-ready websites that don’t break the bank.”

“As part of the company’s commitment to removing barriers to website ownership, FreeWebsite.com strives to make it as easy as possible for users to get their own website, regardless of their experience or technical skill level.”

“We know most people aren’t expert web designers, and that’s why we’ll do all the work for you,” said Spicher. “Just tell us what kind of website you want, and we’ll design it, build it, and load it with content. We can even help you show up in search engines and start getting visitors.”

According to domaintools.com ownership of the domain did change earlier this year.

The domain was owned by NetTuner Corp., of Tampa.

This domain would be tied for the 2nd highest domain sale of 2012 according to DnJournal.com which currently shows three other domain sales for 2012 all at $500,000:

It’s a very good price. However, their web-sites cannot be totally FREE. If they have paid half a million dollars………they expect to make MILLIONS more back…..and customers must pay ! So how are they FREE???

Seems like a misnomer to me !

By the way, what do you all think of the domain 4-gee.net ?
Sorry, it may not be apt for this thread. I don’t see one on 4G.
How about starting one , Mike ? It’s worth discussing. It seems to be getting VERY important.
