Less than 2 hours after we wrote about the domain name auction for Hobby.com on SnapNames.com we got notice the auction was cancelled.
The auction which had a high bid of $26,000 when we wrote our post.
Here is the notice we received as a bidder in the auction:
“”I am sending this email today to you because you were a bidder in an auction on Snapnames.com for the domain hobby.com. ”
“Unfortunately, this auction has been canceled. ”
“This domain entered our system thru one of our partners by mistake. ”
“The name was actually not expired, and does not expire until August 15th, 2013. ”
“I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.”
” We value your business, and look forward to your continued participation in our auctions.”
According to the whois record the domain name did in fact expire in August:

We have likewise now closed our poll on how much the domain will sell for.
but wouldn’t be in ‘pending delete’ yet…
was it renewed by the owner?
Interesting “hobby” screenshot: http://www.screenshots.com/hobby.com/
Well it is a hobby
