On his TSB show on Tuesday night, late night host, Conan O’Brien announced the launch of  Conan.XXX .

Conan O’Brien on why he launched a site on a .XXX domain name said “I wanna finally bust loose.”

Currently the site only has a few videos and none of them contain adult material.

I saw the show and he was pretty much mocking the extension and the whole ordeal,
I wouldn’t call it an endorsement.
    Sincerely.

The site is great. I’m not a fan of Andy Richter but his “two soups at once” video is funny and PERFECT for .xxx.

They obviously invested time and money into the website.

Who knows, maybe .xxx will be used by more celebrities in creative ways.

Great to see a new extension developed and promoted in such a public way.

“Add your FREE XXX to the LEFT of ANY .COM and it will be picked up”

Is XXX.TheDomains.COM is leading the movement ? with UltraDNS ?

This was clearly done as more of the prank than something serious. But it was still a very dumb and reckless thing to do for Conan. XXX stands for hardcore pornography. Conan is the extension of NBC brand. My guess is that Conan will have a meeting with NBC lawyers, then apologize about his dumb joke on the air.

NBC will void Conan contract and sue him for huge damages if Conan starts promoting .xxx in any meaningful way.

Ahh… Conan is not on NBC anymore.

He got a sweet deal on TBS. I think he owns everything and can do whatever he wants.

I thought it was funny and great publicity for .XXX.

To me, the joke is how those who are clearly biased in favor of .COM can’t POSSIBLY fathom any other extension being viable. Every other extension is doomed, etc.. People beating the same drum. Meanwhile, .XXX is becoming better known all the time.

PETA took .XXX and also made headlines. I see nothing wrong with that. Some will use the extension creatively, some made defensive registrations, some domains were permanently blocked by ICM Reg, while others like myself own domains we will develop and take live. It’s all good.

I suggest folks read the Businessweek article which The Domains blogged about to get a better perspective.

It was a total mock of the extension. So glad to see comedians laugh at a worthless extension. To all those that purchased this worthless extension…you can’t ask for a refund either.
