When ICANN makes it “Big Reveal” of the new gTLD applicants tomorrow, one of the more interesting and lingering questions is will Manwin, the owner of YouPorn.com, who filed a lawsuit against ICM Registry, the operator of the .XXX extension and ICANN itself, file an application for a new gTLD like .Sex or .Porn or .Adult?
Frankly IMHO Manwin, is in between the proverbial rock and the hard place.
If Manwin doesn’t apply for a new adult TLD like .Porn or .Sex or .Adult when ICM registry already announced they made application for each of those extensions, its going to be pretty hard for them to continue to allege anti-trust violations against ICANN and ICM when they had an opportunity like everyone else to apply and they passed.
On the other hand if Manwin does apply for an adult extension, like .sex, .porn or .adult its going to be hard for them to say they didn’t have a chance to apply for an adult extension in violation of anti-trust laws.
I think its a head they win, heads you lose deal for Manwin.
