That’s a hot price. Hot.com is owned by the same person.

Great sale. Just a small correction in your article – Sommerhus translates to Summer House 🙂

    Mr. T

    Not according to Google translate

yes, the correct translation is Summer House.
Next time just do a GOOGLE IMAGES search or check our the 1st page of GOOGLE website listings to double-check the actual translation. “Sommer” is the word for Summer 😉

fyi “Sommerhus” is a danish word which means “holiday”, that’s why they are throwing away a good price for this domain.

… sommerhus is danish word for “summer vacation rental home” …

The fact they actually paid for it is fun, since warehousing is not allowed in the danish TLD, any domain put public for sale is up for easy grabbing.

btw, reverse hijacking is ALLOWED in the danish ccTLD. Any domain owned by anyone, where a trademark is later interduced is up for easy grabbing as well by the trademark owner.

    Peter,

Not sure if you ment warehousing is not allowed (not unusual for ccTLD’s ) or to sell .DK domain names ?
The Irish ccTLD (.IE) strictly forbids the selling of domain names, yet i could not find this restriction on the webpage of DK Hostmaste for .DK.

This is why I don’t play in the non-english ccTLD market.

So far we have 5 translations for this word.

I got “Summer” off of Google, we have 2 votes for “Summer House”, 1 vote for “Holiday” and 1 vote for “Summer vacation rental home”

Michael, it’s impossible to give a direct translation. The word can mean summer home, summer house, even vacation home to some extent.

If you go to google.dk and check out the images you get this – http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&cp=10&gs_id=3n&xhr=t&q=sommerhus&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=707&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=OHeYT_i8KfGQ4gSL8vDEBg

That should give you a pretty good idea 🙂

    Can i try?

    translate.google.dk
    sommerhus – home

try and translate sommer hus – gives you summer house – which is basically a vacation rental house for the summer.

No debate – Sommerhus = Summer vacation rental house…
Or a building used for holidays and vacations for vacants and the house’ owners family.

The word does NOT mean SUMMER.
Google sommerhus and you’ll se the true meaning of it.

BTW, i don’t get why the ccTLD is allowed to be sold from a known domain-seller like SEDO… STUPID DKHM!

I lived in danmark and spoke the Dansk decently and to me the word is summer house.
