Another Great Reason To Own Your Domain: In Case You Need To Raise Money For Legal Defense: George Zimmerman Did Not

A few days ago George Zimmerman started a website, trying to raise funds for his legal defense.

For a guy who has been in the news everyday for well over a month, George is reason number 1001 for why you own your own domain name, this time in case you need to raise money for your legal defense.

However just a couple of weeks ago Netfirms of Burlington, Massachusetts, went out and registered the domain name GeorgeZimmerman.com (the domain does not resolve) but it left Mr. Zimmerman to come up with a different domain name.

So the official site set up by Zimmerman is therealgeorgezimmerman.com

Zimmerman also registered realgeorgezimmerman.com (without “the”) and it forwards to his main site.

As an alternative to securing your domain name, one might also try not shooting anybody.

I’m still amazed at how many business/brands are happy to leave their exact match domain name free to register. I would have thought it was one of the first tasks when planning a brand campaign, to acquire the domains, but still I see countless launches from companies, who quite frankly, should know better. Cost of registering is no excuse for these multi billion dollar entities, let alone the value of search.

While I don’t like the fact that he acted as a cop wannabe, maybe he had to save his own life during the fight? (Actually, not even cops have the right to stop people for no reason on the street, let alone some self-proclaimed guardian)

And if you feel it necessary to shoot someone with a hoodie – make sure you have a hoodie on as well 🙂

He’s narcissistic. He felt important enough to be the judge of who gets in or out of the little area he lives in. He probably identified with cops and thought he was really “one of them” We haven’t heard much of his past to suggest he really had much going for him, being the neighborhood watchdog was it. When you add guns to the mix people like that suddenly feel important and powerful.

At the very least he is guilty of playing God, and who’s to say that Trayvon Martin was only protecting himself at what he quite legitimately perceived to be the actual aggressor?

I hope justice is served in this case, whatever the outcome may be and I pray for no violence as a result of the final verdict in the trial to come.

Rodney King said it best, “Can’t we all just get along?”

I think owning his own domain name is the least of his worries right now. Most people in this world would just like to own their own home, let alone their domain name. Our lives and our view about domains aren’t exactly the norm.
