If you’re a domainer you probably have gotten an email from RiversideDomain.com telling you about a domain that is soon to drop promising you that they can obtain it for you
Here is how the emails typically read:
My name is ___________ (name changes a lot) I came across your website while looking for potential interested parties for the domain name _____________ that will be placed sale in the next few days.
The domain name will be sold to the highest bidder and we thought this might be of interest to your business.
You can leave an offer by following the link below and one of our domain specialists will contact you with further details about the sale:http://riversidedomaintransfers.com/acquire/A1zER/sFat0YYha8
No new website or hosting would be needed, a quick and simple change of DNS servers would make the traffic from fortworthdui.com point to your existing
website and you would get a one year registration with the purchase, after this period all you would have to do is renew the domain name with your registrar
for around 10$/year.
I have been getting these emails for months.
Recently however, I and other domainers have been getting emails about one of the domains I own, domains that have registration dates into 2012 and are clearly not going to expire “in the next few days”
Some of the domain names that have recently appeared include:
fortworthdui.com
widescreenlcddisplay.com
defectiveproductattorneys.com
I have also received phone calls from people who have received such emails to see if the domain is really for sale.
There are several names used in the email, Jake Forsythe, Robert Schmidt,, Jimmy Baggs, Emma Richards, Robert Brooks, John Kipley, Alexander Chase and even Edward Clark who is on the whois record for the domain name RiversideDomain.com.
Seems like they have more brokers than even Sedo.com.
The domain name is owned by “Riverside Domain Brokers” of Cheyenne Wyoming.
Today they started using a new URL as well NameItNow.info which sent out an email saying:
After coming across your website in the search engines I thought this domain might be of interest to you
and that you may wish to leave an offer because we are selling it will be sold off in the coming week
Today’s email from Nameitnow.info contained the domain name, xxxmedia.com, another domain I own, which doesn’t expire until Feburary 2012 and has as its admin contact none other than Edward Clark of “Riverside Domain Brokers” of Cheyenne Wyoming.
So I’m wondering if any of you have had any dealings with RiversideDomain.com or if you ever placed an order for a domain with them or know what their deal is because I sure can’t figure them out.
This is the one I got from sales@reg-it.info

I got one that was from some “guy” named Michael Hendrix. “We are going to buy your domain”, blah blah. Broken english for the most part. Found out it was a scammer from China, and, they prey on users on Sedo who have just recently parked their domains there.
Ryan
I don’t park my domains with Sedo

I have probably 30 of these emails in my spam folder. Interestingly they sent me one about your condosandhomes.com Michael
Ryan,
I wonder if ‘Michael’ can play mean guitar like Jimmy? I doubt it though.
I can’t tell scammer brokers apart from real ones. Same results! Most domainers are spectators as these guys sell all kinds of crappy domains in the major market places without giving us a break. Good luck getting your domains listed in the Sedo auctions unless you are related to their brokers.
It’s spam, the interwebs are full of it. It’s like the extra crap that comes in your real mail. Just throw it away. People can anonymously send any email stating anything with no recourse. The more attention you give it the stronger it gets.
I got one a few weeks ago telling me that since I own visitrio.org that I would be interested in bidding on visitrio.com which they would be auctioning off in the near future, unfortunately the visitrio.com is outside of my budget, I thought maybe you offered them a commission on selling names in your portfolio to targeted domainers…guess not
here is the email I got
Good day to you,
My name is John Kipley and my company is brokering the sale of the domain name visitrio.com that will be released for sale in the next few days.
We saw that you have a similar website and that you may be interested in acquiring this domain for your business needs.
By leaving an offer for this domain you can secure all its future type in traffic for yourself, just fill out the form in the link below:
http://riversidedomaintraders.com/acquire/A1zER/2fadE3nZkj
No new hosting or website is needed because visitrio.com can be redirected to your existing website for free.
You would get a one year registration with the domain and this would be a one time payment to our company with no hidden fees.
Thank you for your time and have a great day!
John Kipley

I’ve received a lot of these offers and found many of them to be promoting domains dropping in a few months. I use the notices as flags that domains I *may be interested in are getting ready to drop, place backorders myself when interested, and avoid the reseller fees which I assume is how they make money. Over the past two months I’ve picked up around five domains for our portfolio. Never interacted with the company directly, however.
For the email addresses with the company that are hit with offers, the system seems to mine public Whois data, looking for related/typo/alternate spelling domains.
We blogged about it earlier today morning: http://www.domainsville.com/blog/warning-riverside-domain-brokers-llc-selling-soon-to-drop-domains/
Would you PLEASE report it? Riverside is impersonating you:
Are you losing free targeted traffic?

it says on its website. It’s using your domains to promote its business.

I am another who has received a number of these emails recently. Very annoying. More and more of these seem to be showing up in my inbox lately. Not just from that company, but from others, as well.
Here is one of yours Mike,
http://riversidetld.com/acquire/A1zER/pOOFRkYa2I#center
See you soon.
This is Riverside’s guarantee:
Q:How do I know you will transfer the domain?
A:
Just for arguments sake, if you are unhappy with our services for any reason we are bound by our payment processor to give you a full refund. Again, for arguments sake, if we fail to refund you then our US based payment processor will. Generaly speaking the worst case scenario is you get your money back.
Q:So what kind of money back guarantee do you give?
A:
If you are unhappy with our service for any reason you can ask for your money back in full within 14 days of purchase. Just push the domain back to our account and we will refund you in full.

Hey Mike, looks like you found your company a great broker…
I’ve been getting these emails for a while, but the number is increasing. I checked one and notice they were trying to pre-sell a drop. I assumed they would take an order and then try to grab the drop, making a profit on a low risk flip.
Here’s one I just received:
Hello, I am Edward Clark from Riverside Domain Brokers.
The domain e-hip.com will be sold off soon and since you have a similar domain I thought you might want the extra traffic.
You can express your interest by filling out this form:
http://nameitnow.info/acquire/——-
You will receive a year of registration at no cost with your purchase and will only be charged once by Riverside Domain Brokers.
You can forward e-hip.com to any of your domains or vice versa at no cost.
Once you confirm your interest and the domain is secured, one of my transfer specialists will contact you.
Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
Hi,
I have also been receiving these type of emails. But I use this to my advantage. They send me the domain name that will be expiring soon. Then if I like this domain name and I want to buy it. I go to Pool.com to see when this domain name is going to be available. Then on that date, I go to GoDaddy.com to buy it. I have done this a couple of times.
Fernando
Riversidedomain keep sending out various emails which they can mention you can unsubscribe to, i never subscribed in the first place but i find the constant bombardment of emails annoying. You block one and then another appears.

I remember when the riverside brought up nice picturesque images in your mind, but not any more. lol
I get about 3-5 emails a day from NowYo.com and Riverside and few others.
Did someone make a new software and make it accessible to “should be” domainers but too broke to spend $8 on a domain ~ to wanna be brokers?
The industry needs some sort of self policing mechanism that people can report the various types (such as Alex with various emails and addresses etc) who repeatedly send email after email after email that appear to be deceptive etc. It’s bad for the industry as a whole.
Yes, nowyo.com is the worst with their SPAM emails. The company nowyo.com run by Christian Walter was previously featured on DomainSherpa.com – during the interview nowyo forgot to mention that part of their business promotion was spamming. They were doing this previously under a different name and now rebranded under nowyo.com – someone needs to report these people to the state attorney.
Not defending these guys, but they probably just created a software and didn’t really test it thoroughly. Therefore it is running wildly, caching all domains, keeping close record of soon expiring domains and then mass emailing those who have similarity.
If they were smart, they would say or offer
“We just wanted to notify you, that xxx domain is expiring soon and since you own similar xxx domain, you might be interested in it. You can try to grab the name yourself when it expires (drops) or have us help you for a $15 or $20 catch service fee…”
If they catch 1000 domains a month for clients, they can make $15-$20k easily…
But then, with how greedy domainers can be (get, or become), they might just keep good domains for themselves :-/
@ John, Here is the address to file a complaint: http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
I am getting about 30-40 emails a day from “Alex”.
I’ve been receiving quite a few of these as well from “Alex”. They’ve been trying to sell me domains similar to the domains I own. The problem is they don’t actually own the domains they are trying to sell me.
They look through the expiring domains, and then try to gauge interest in the domain by “selling it” to people who have similar domains. If there’s no interest they don’t dropcatch it. If there is, they try to drop catch it and then sell it to the interested party.
It would be different if they were offering to catch it for a fee…but making it sound like they currently own the domain when they don’t is pretty shady if you ask me.. Hell.. I’ve received emails from them after a similar domain has already deleted telling me I can purchase it from them for something like $500. A quick whois shows the domain isn’t even registered yet.
I pointed this out to them and they responded with “The domain was listed due to a system error and has been removed. We apologize for any inconvenience.”
There are a few other similar people doing the same thing.. I’m guessing they are either just alternate names for riverside domains, or copycats. Very annoying though..
Not sure…how did they augment the whois to show themselves as being a tech contact on a domain name you own…or did I miss something here
@ John – now that you mention it, sometimes its great these guys email me, when I own the domain-with-dashes.com that the non dashed version is for sale by them (or in other words, expiring soon).
Its like a reminder for a better, premium version of your domain will be available soon.
I am still laughing over the curlyfries dot info situation – I forget, but I think they wanted like $500…FOR A DOT INFO!!! …little do they know I bought the dot com version for around half at auction, hehehe.
Folks, take a look at the comment Julia Alison from Riverside Domain Brokers left us on http://www.domainsville.com/blog/warning-riverside-domain-brokers-llc-selling-soon-to-drop-domains/
Feel free to comment!
They have called my company phone that is listed on whois and offered to sell me the singular of the same domain name that I own the plural of.
Well, Riverside scammers sent me their shit trying to sell me my own domain!
It’s not due to expire, it’s not about to be lost or deleted and I suspect they have offered it to other martial arts organisations who might just fall for it and pay them . . . if they are so squeeky clean what then if that happens?????
oops, will they refund the buyer, cause they won’t be getting what they paid for!!!
They would then be committing fraud, selling something that doesn’t belong to them!!!
Obviously I am not the only one in this position.
For referrance ninjutsuinternational.com is my domain not Riverside’s and as I have many ‘ninjutsu’ related domains I guess this won’t be the last I hear from these scum.
Defend them all you like . . . until they try to sell your domain!!!!!!!!
I lost several domains because of ‘Robert Soloway’ using them to send his porn spam several years ago so I’m not tolerant of these type of low life’s!
We are a kids martial arts organisation with global connections so I’m GOING to do everything in my power to SHUT THESE PIECES OF SHIT DOWN!!!!!
Watch this space!!!!!!!
Trust-guard (plastered all over Riversides site) NO LONGER provides a service for theses scammers and after my pointing this out to them trust-guard is taking action to have their ‘safe site’, ‘secure site’ and ‘trusted site’ banners etc taken off the Riverside site !!!!
Wouldn’t think ‘godaddy’ as a reputable company would tolerate this shit on their servers!
I get a bunch of these type of emails, from this same outfit and others on a similar fishing trip. Like another poster I too use it as a more convenient way of monitoring domain drops than adding whois monitoring to each different extension of hundreds of names manually. IMO the best thing you can do when these show up is read it to see if theyve found a gem, and delete it. No reply, no click, nothing. Theyll keep bothering you but at least you wont get on the mugs list.
Cheers domain drop spammers – you gave me the headsup on a couple of corkers 🙂
these issues will never be stopped
… it’s all in HOW you use it to your advantage…
so for example..
… spend about $10 on a couple of dot info’s that you want the dot com for…
… this way, when the dot com version IS about to drop – you will be notified by these guys just because you own the dot info – you can then back order or attempt to catch.
so for $10, you get a multi-domain name monitoring service 🙂
I always buy the domains they recommend. There’s not traffic but who cares? They are great domains that will someday sell for big money! And Riverside sells them to me for so little and it’s so convenient. Fantastic service! Thank you Riverside!
I’ve gotten emails from the guys for over a year! The first domain they tried to sell me was the .com of a name which I owned the .net and .org. I thought, well yea I would like to own it, how much? They quoted me $395 and I was about to pull the trigger but when I went to their “checkout form” the price had suddenly gone up to $4992.00…WTH??? Contacted them and they said in the interim someone had offered $4900.00 but I could pick it up for the bargain price of $92 more! Wow what a deal…LOL!
They tried to sell me one of my own domains last month. I told them I would be glad to sell it to them at the bargain basement price of $4992.00….No Response…LOL!
At least I haven’t heard from them since!
Stay away from these guys, they are spamming scammers!
@FUTRS (john?)
Smartest comment out of a list of lots I had to read through. lol Good job!
Use these freaks for finding dropping domains and then just add the ones you like to your “watch list” and 45 days later, check your list for some nice new reg domains!
WARNING TO OTHERS: Although it’s too late now, but any “media attention” you give guys like this will encourage them to continue. Don’t click their links. Don’t contact them. Don’t even let them know you received their email. Don’t complain, don’t log into anything. Just silently keep track of their data.
I keep receiving this crap from riversidedomain.com too.
Just ignore them and report them for spam.
Don’t do business with them, they are SCAM!
riversidedomain.com is a SCAM!
The “Secret Millionaire” John Ferber is doing the same SPAM way with his company Domainholdings.com today. This is not better than the riversidecrapemails.

Hello,
My name is Jenna Wehner and I’m a Domain Portfolio Manager. I am working on behalf of the owner of gpsantenne.com to sell this domain name.
While performing research online I came across your domain gpsantenne.de ; since both domains have listings under a related keyword I thought that your company may be interested in acquiring?
The seller is motivated and I am happy to present any reasonable offer for them to consider.
Thank you in advance for your consideration!
Sincerely,

Well clearly, this is a fraud, and maybe some naive domain owners might actually send them money in the end. The only thing I am asking myself in this regard is why people are wondering why they get this type of emails. To me, this clearly looks like a scam. Just add them to the spam filter.
