SnapNames.com Changes Backorder Dead Line From Noon to 1:45EST For Dropping Domains

September 16, 2011 by Michael Berkens

I just noticed that SnapNames.com, which always had a deadline of noon EST to backorder any domain names dropping that day, has now moved it to 1:45 EST.

I think the changes occurred within the last couple of days and I haven’t seen any announcement from the company on it.

So for anyone chasing drop domain names, you now have a little more time to get you domains placed for that day.

The deadline for NameJet.com still seems to be noon EST for domain names dropping that day.

As you probably know the actually drop from Verisign occurs between 2pm EST and 3:15Pm EST each day 365 days a year.

I seriously thought Snapnames deadline has always been 2PM EST…

Good to know if this is more accurate.

    🙂

Snapnames rarely catches anything good, and a few times when it does the domains go from auction to a fixed price (as they or their partner get the domain registration) and they ask about 5 times the max I think is reasonable for the domain. IMO, shady practices.

    Thanks for the heads up.
The drops actually occur between 2pm EST and 3:30Pm EST daily. I’ve picked up hundreds of names in those last 15mins.

Thanks for noticing Michael. Actually, there has been no change to the cutoff times on SnapNames (1:45pm ET / 10:45am PT), however we recently deployed an adjustment to our results display to clearly indicate our deadline times for orders.

In addition, we recently deployed a members-only homepage view which highlights things such as top categories, top deals, and most commonly searched keywords. Once you have logged in, you should see the members-only homepage.

I welcome feedback from the community on these changes or other feedback.

    This one’s for MHB:

    Just hand caught today:

    ButtLube.com
    ErectileTissue.com

P.S. @TLD, not sure if it’s strategic posturing but that’s the dumbest post all day.

    “Snapnames rarely catches anything good”

They caught winestore.com a few days ago, Looks pretty darn good to me 🙂

And since Gazzip mentioned it, WineStore.com which the auction ends later today is already at almost $8K with 150 bidders.

So much for the theory that no one uses SnapNames.com and/or they never catch anything good

Look for a sale north of $10K on this one

Wow, it went for over 30k

OrganicStore.com (not mine) is also for sale at snapnames just now, reserve of 25 to 50k if anyones interested.
