The Help

Its the number 1 seller on Amazon.com and this week the movie based off the best seller is opening nationwide

The movie is already getting some Oscar buzz.

Marchex (Nasdaq: MCHX)  is the lucky owner of the domain name TheHelp.com, which according to Compete.com as of June had already experienced a 8X jump in traffic and should get plenty of traffic for the next few months.

Of course beyond the book and movie its a nice domain name, which is why from time to time if you own a lot of brandable domains someone is going to come along and brand it

“if you own a lot of brandable domains someone is going to come along and brand it”

To someone who is new to domains, the above quote could cost a few thousand dollars 🙂

If you believe in getting lucky then holding a few that are a combination of words and preferably make some sense and/or are pronounceable then what’s the worst that can happen? (assuming one won’t use tomorrow’s lunch money).

However, counting on a movie/book/coined term alone may be dangerous as the wait may be longer then one can afford to wait.

I think there are much better and more realistic investment opportunities with generic domains today then anything brandable could ever offer.

I’d rather win the real lottery, 8x, 80x more traffic doesn’t make much difference when we are talking $50 Mil
