Nice to see the new owners of BIDO make an effort to upmarket the service. The old BIDO was a positively abysmal trashcan of the most worthless ‘domainers domains’ I’ve ever seen. I stopped checking in on their offerings after the first couple weeks.

It might take some time for them to get over the ‘bad reputation’ hump earned during their startup years, but I believe they can, especially if they continue to offer names like this.

    I don’t get the logic… buyers/sellers… everyone.

If the Bido.com reserve price is $90k why start the auction at $38 dollars? You think you will build momentum from $38 to $90,000?

And if sellers can see the minimum price that it needs to hit is $90k, why did 9 people bid $5,000 or less. What is the point of your bid people? That’s like walking into a Porsche dealership and offering $5,000 for a $90,000 car. It just makes you look stupid.

    could be an experiment.

a way to gauge the market.

names might not sell but they can see how high the bidding goes.

in this market sellers will take what they can get. but they don’t necessarily know what they can get. so they might experiment.

they might go fishing with a massive chunk of bait. they can can see whether small fish nibble (useful info for catching small fish) and maybe just maybe a big fish comes along and they make $90/250/400K from a simple no risk experiment.
