April 18, 2011 by Michael Berkens

The domain name Connectv.com just sold on Sedo for $45K.

The domain is currently at Godaddy.com on privacy.

Obviously an end user sale, with the mostly likely buyer being Connectv.ca

In a couple other notable sales, Sedo.com also sold tequila.co for $14,500 and directory.net for $10K

The most obvious buyer would be connec-tv.com? Just crazy high price for that name, congratulations to the seller!

Crazy-high price? $45K? Hmm. Maybe if this were the ’70s or ’80s, again. But for a “brand,” (not much unlike DirecTV), that’s pretty cheap.

There was a company during the ’90s who infringed on mine, (among others), software copyrights. Some of those “others” were happy to get $5K as a settlement. I negotiated for $75K, knowing that $5K was nothing. But some people look at what’s in their own bank account, (probably near zero, based on their excitement), and decided on a settlement that way. That’s just foolish. Just because one doesn’t have $20 in their bank account, doesn’t mean the person they’re doing business with doesn’t have a whole lot more. It pays to do financial research on what a company has, instead of your own belief of what is a “crazy lot” of money, before you negotiate. If you go in blind, you’ll likely get a lot less than you otherwise could have gotten.
