Afternic.com Post $450K In Sales Lead By Funo.com at $20K

February 15, 2011 by Michael Berkens

Another LLLL.com domain name lead the sales chart at Afternic for the week ending February 13th.

Funo.com lead the pack at $20K, floridaautoinsurance.com seemed like a bargain at $15K, and as usually there are plenty of sales in that $3K-$5K range that none of us would pay $100 for.

Here is a complete list of all reportable sales of $2K or more for .com and $1K or more for other than .com’s.

The other observation I have is that it seemed the non-com sales were very few in number compared to most weeks for Afternic, lets see if that becomes a trend or is a one week deal.

    FUNO.com Fabo.com u50.com hvmg.com cwhp.com etc.

why did, these nonsense names, have so high values?

how can, these crazy names, be really used for sites?

why, more clear and useful domains, remain unsold?

I have sold many 4L dot com ( high $XXXXx) that most of you think they are junks because they are not pronounceable in USA English but valuable in other countries.

This is why my international experience living in other countries helps alot.

The best thing about 4L is that there are always buyers!!! it depends how much you want to sell.

“because they are not pronounceable in USA English but valuable in other countries”

many 3L 4L 5L domains have no sense in every languages but are sold at high prices

    Floridaautoinsurance.com goes for $15,000!!!! Wow…

Also, I see Estibot is now appraising Insurance.com at $260,000,000 (yes, a quarter-billion-dollars) even though Insurance.com sold for “only” $35,000,000 last year. Insurance domains are HOT right now.

no, it has been sold for “only” $16M

“Estibot is now appraising Insurance.com at $260,000,000”

maybe, there is a bug in the Estibot algorithm 🙂

    Someone sold way too cheap.

It is worth at least 50k imo.

I have sold insurance domains for great money and never sell insurance domains cheap.

    @the first domains…,

No, Insurance.com was purchased by Quinstreet for $35.6 million roughly six months ago.

The Estibot valuation is likely NOT an algorithm bug, when you couple the ultra-high CPC on insurance ads with the huge number of insurance-related searches, you come up with a perfect storm for Insurance-website-owners who know how to monetize their traffic.

Bottom line, the QS purchase of Insurance.com was an absolute steal – it’s worth WAY more than they paid.

Keyword-rich insurance domains are worth their weight in gold.

Florida auto insurance.com goes for $15,000.

Would RICK have let it go for those peanuts?

    Some Broker must suckered someone,
so uncle charlie standing in the shadows could grab it!

That’s why they call them Brokers, casue
you go BROKE if you listen to there expert BS.

Floridaautoinsurance.com is a steal @ 15k I know of ones that have gone much higher that have not been published.

We just put Louisianainsurance up last week, though it will probably take about 90 to 120 days to sell.

Insurance.com was a bargain. It’s the best name possible. That is just the way I see it. One quick look see who is paying them to advertise on the site should tell you why it is so valuable. Surehits is a solid affiliate with high payouts and Quin owns them so no the middle man for insurance is them. They get it all:)

It will paid for in less than 3 years in my best estimates.

Insurance names will always be hot as long as 20 dollar clicks are around.
