1717.com Already At $22K at SnapNames: How High Will it Go?

January 28, 2011 by Michael Berkens

The domain name 1717.com is up at auction at Snapnames.com and the high bid is already $22,000.

There are 195 people in the closed auction which ends on Sunday at 3:15 EST, in accordance with normal closing rules of Snap.

This gem was a true drop domain and there were high prebids already in place at Namejet.com

We know NNNN.com have a high value and are prized especially in the Asian market.

There is currently 5 bidders at $15K or higher.

So how high will this domain go?

My prediction is $50K.

What do you think?

    I had saved up for a while for this name and knew it had value but didn’t realize I would be out of the bidding so early. It is a pretty special name. Notice all the asian bidders? I would guess at $35,000 or so.

    I believe that surely it won’t be sold in Italy where the number 17 is like your 13 … and this is a twice 17 … 🙂

    What is the significance of the number, does it mean something?

    I second what Snoopy said. I understand this is a repeating number, but what is the significance of these numbers that is pushing it so far above standard NNNN.com pricing?

    @Brad

    Check out 4.cn and you’ll get the picture. Certain numbers in Chinese sound like words or phrases. A lot of Chinese people are willing to pay premiums to get these numbers.
