    I foresee “.TV” slipping into the #2 slot behind “.com” within a few years. If you’re a producer, why not finance a show, stream it directly to the web, and collect ALL the advertising profits for yourself? Within 10 years, every TV, mobile device, and PC will be streaming video content (just a matter of bandwidth getting upgraded). Methinks the big networks are shaking in their boots right about now…they, the middle man, will be cut OUT of the equation eventually.

    Some .TV domains will become MORE valuable than their .com counterparts; it’s inevitable.

    Some .TV may well be more valuable than their .com counterparts

    Fascinating how the Trademark Lobby {that dominates ICANN} never seems to show much interest or concern for .TV

    When asked about that, one attorney claimed that many lawyers advise their clients not to dilute their brand in too many TLDs. Another attorney claimed
    he had “never heard of .TV” (what planet is he on?)

    .CO and .TV could be a one two punch to put .COM on the ropes

    @TheBigLieSociety,

    I agree with the power of .tv, but .co is an entirely different story. I’ll bet we see .co’s selling at the same level as .mobi in a few years, which is why I’m selling my five .co’s for PENNIES right now. Glad I only bought five of ’em.

    Every single day, I been getting offers for my .tv. The big end-users are jumping on everyday and I have sold some .tv to end users as well. There are many, $100,000+ sales in .tv that are NDA as well. It’s a very exciting time in .tv and MHB you own some great ones as well which will command XXX,XXX in the future for you.

    @Jim,

    I’ve turned down two seperate offers of $10K+ this year for Cheeseburger.TV (plus some smaller, unrealistic offers). The only reason I didn’t sell is because I have a specific development plan for this one.

    Oh yeah, I paid $32 for it last year on Bido:)

    ===
    Agree!!

    But, the Package of BOTH a .TV and a .CO sold together (forever?) could be compelling

    Apparently, some Trademark people believe that the singular .COM gives them that TM strength. People have strange ideas about what sways courts and creates
    case law, etc. Maybe it is like (R) and TM symbols. People obsess about what
    to use or not use, when and where.

    Some apparently think a TWO domain Package trumps a .COM

    Trump.TV ?

    @Cheeseburger.tv

    It’s all about ROI, and IMO, .tv offers the best of all the extensions and I been in domaining since 1997 and buying .tv since 200.

    The values are going up for .tv. The owners are realizing more what they have and won’t sell cheap. I have got good offers for, Spain.tv, England.tv, Religion.tv, Actor.tv and many others. Don’t need nor want to sell right now, but they are coming. Also, as I sell off .com’s, many which I had since 1998, I am only buying .tv, top category names. The window is shutting real fast on buying top .tv names. The secret is out!

    So, you have Actor.TV? I have BESTactor.tv! LOL!

    Regarding .co, I think it was a marketing blitz that got that going. Once that dies down, then I think .co will dye with it. I own 5 .co myself that are top category names in spanish and no offers coming in over $60 low-ball sedo offers. I agree .co is going to the graveyard next to .mobi.

    All this .TV talk pushed to hand-reg Shameless.TV at Dynadot for $12.99. Not a bad promo over there on .TV’s right now.

    Wow, epic news for .TV people.

    Even though it is smut, it is pretty much it’s right in the heart and soul of media business. Also lots of ties with hollywood…

    The juggernaut rolls on….

    Thankful for getting in early…

  15. M. Menius says

    This is a pretty significant development for .TV. Also inevitable. Also a natural progression in domain name utilization. I’ve been saying that all media will migrate to a single portal coming into the home. This is the perfect preparation for that seachange.

    Dish Network, DirecTV, independent cable TV providers … prepare yourselves for obsolescence. You are the hardcopy newspapers of 1999.

    I still dont feel that .co is going to be ranked with .mobi – but only time will tell – no one can say for sure – its all speculation.

    I am def going to keep an eye out for some potential .tv domains to add to my portfolio.

    @Chris,

    I’ve hand reg’d 3 .tv domains in the past 24-hours for $12.99 each, and each one of them are single-word terms that could easily be turned into a media/video site. With the Playboy announcement, I’ll bet domainers are scrambling right now to grab the last remaining decent .tv’s.

    Alot of decent .TV’s were forgotten about over the past few years and dropped. There are a few gems here for those who wish to do the sifting:
