Contacts.me might make sense if the buyer already had Contact.me
Agree, there were some great names in this one.
Will you share which you got? Congratulations either way.

Man the ideas are just flying for TRY.me and WIN.me.

Some good names on that list, but those stuck out as having instant ideas 🙂

I’m going to put up a poll tonight and don’t want to influence the results.

I will let everyone know after the weekend

    Thanks MHB for the list.

I won poker.me and 3 other names, can’t wait to see which names you got.

I just hand reg’d my first .me yesterday, zeolite.me I’m trying to develop it into a product portal though, so we’ll see how well it ranks after putting some horsepower seo into it.

    John

MAYBE and ONLY if the buyer had contact.me however, I would argue that its too much money even for him.

I think the reason why you don’t like Contacts.me versus Contact.me is the same reason why Business.me is so far down the list. The idea of a DOTme domain is really limited to two categories: 1. A personal domain or 2. A word that works well with the word “me”.

The reason for this is because in this country, the word “me” actually means something, so when you’re looking at a domain name that has a functional word in the TLD (as opposed to a .COM), you tend to want to put all of it together. Like.me makes sense because like and me go together. Other examples would be Print.me, Save.me, Ask.me, etc. etc.

So you’d be right to say Contacts.me is meaningless because if you put it in the context I described, you’d be right. The same can even be said for .NET and .ORG–sites on these domains are usually expected to be of some specific nature due to the TLD being used. Of course, .COM remains as neutral as ever.

That’s the tough part of speculating in these international TLDs. I mean, you could own Like.me and it would worth more than Like.co or Like.io simply because Like.me just works…at least in English-speaking countries.

Anyway, that’s my two cents! The only DOTme domain I own is Brandon.me.

  8. MHB says

    November 18, 2010 at 6:11 pm

I own michael.me but the first name .me domains have fetched far less money in the auctions than phrase domains like.me

  9. Ben says

    November 18, 2010 at 6:13 pm

    We won 10 domains:

    1. List.me
    2. Bid.me
    3. Employ.me
    4. Send.me
    5. Try.me
    6. Votefor.me
    7. Plan.me
    8. Home.me
    9. Eat.me
    10. Lead.me

We have a solid plan for each of them but we might flip some of them for the right opportunity.

After Ben’s post I can attempt to guess which ones MHB’s got. But, I won’t spoil his poll.
Congrats to all winners. I have no .ME

  11. Gazzip says

I did’nt buy any .me’s at all but out of that list I really do like:
    Hotels.me
    Business.me
    Car.me
…if they were branded and used for the middle east.

It could work in as similar way as bi-me.com is used for Business Intelligence Middle East

Most of the .me’s being registered don’t make much sense to .me TBH

I got loveu.me, iwin.me, inews.me and probably one of the best .me which I plan to develop this comming year.

Iam actually looking for some serious .me developer.
    feel free to contact… me.

Amazingly, I think I own one of the most used names not on the list (and if I had known Sedo was running a ME auction, I’d have had the name in there). Undelete.com is for sale and if you are interested, I’d be glad to talk to hyou about it. I’m in NJ. Reach out when you can.

  15. loveu.me says

    November 19, 2010 at 9:33 am

@Scott- If I’m not mistaken it was an auction of the Registry itself.

Btw- Having a high searched keyword is nice but they exist in every extension. The question is whether it fits the .me concept as Brandon wrote…

  16. Adam Brewer says

I blogged on what makes certain .ME domains so valuable some time ago and Brandon has summed my views up perfectly. As such, my favourites of all the domains auctioned were employ.me and recycle.me – I can see massive potential in those two.

  17. Ben says

    November 19, 2010 at 6:37 pm

Totally agree with Brandon. Nice dot me domains have to be meaningful in English or even in Spanish. That said, there are only a few amount that match these requirements and so high prices are justified.

  19. EvinwoodAcq says

I think the potential in the .me space is huge. If you pick up the right ones just like the people above, you can make some good sales. I just listed a few .me myself. They seem to be good .me domains to me but I am new to the domain game.

The two that I own are in german. I saw that a .net in german sold hugely a little while ago so I figured what the hey. I own VERSICHERN.ME which is assure.me or insure.me in german and I own RECYCELN.ME which I am sure you can guess is recycle.me in german.

    We’ll see how that goes.

I see that people are debating the rationale behind the price of Contacts.me. But, in my view, it was a great deal for the buyer. If you run a contact lens business, branding it as Contacts.me is brilliant. A great product keyword with the personalized feel that the .ME extension gives produces a winning combination from marketing standpoint. Obviously, I’m a fan of .ME and see huge potential in the TLD. I think generic product category .ME names are an area where you’ll see significant development by businesses.

Where’s the best place for .ME auctions? Sedo? I have KNOW.ME and I will be selling it soon.

I have SmartPhones.me that I am looking to auction – where is the best place for auctioning .me in the coming months?

  23. Content.me says

    September 18, 2011 at 4:22 am

@Steve, try next month’s Sedo Great Domains auction. The .ME’s in this month’s auction that’s currently running are doing very well. The .ME domain market is really heating up.

  24. Content.me says

    September 18, 2011 at 4:32 am

@Steve, to give you an idea of how things look for .ME:

    Business.me just sold for $55,000
Watch.me currently has a 13,785 bid on Sedo
Collection.me currently has a $3596 bid on Sedo
Martin.me currently has $1,000 bid on Sedo

.ME names are catching fire as development has been very strong. They’ve become the darling of Silicon Valley developers. Your name should do well.

  25. Content.me says

    September 18, 2011 at 5:40 am

The one downside of this jump in .ME domain interest is that I find that you can no longer sleep on dropping names. Just months or even weeks ago it would seem that only a handful of people were watching the .ME drops so if you forgot to immediately pick one up often times it would still be there days later. But, now I’m finding a number of new domainers immediately jumping on dropping .ME’s. I guess I should take that as a positive sign.

  26. Content.me says

    September 18, 2011 at 11:10 pm

As I said, it’s becoming quite difficult to grab quality .ME drops these days. However, I did manage to acquire a few today. I’m not sure if everyone is already aware of this but domainmonster provides access to .ME names that are scheduled to drop in the next five days at the following link:

    http://www.domainmonster.com/expired-domains/

Just enter .me in the search box and click the filter for “ends include extenstion.”
