really, I do not understand WHY a german-only domain like waschmaschinen.de is offered (and, maybe, also SOLD) for 140,000 euro, while some domains that are more genereric and good for the entire Europe (or the entire world) not even receive an offer!!!

my doubt (from years) is that some domains have been sold and bought, sold and bought again (and so on) by the same guys just to boost its price waiting a REAL buyer that wants it to build a REAL website… what you think about? …is, my sensation, also the yours?

    Lebensversicherungen.de

If you look at the inprint (Impressum) bottom left on the site you will see it is run by VIPEX Internet Presence GmbH in Cologne Germany.

The domain is actually a Killer name. Only problem when runing a Insurance site in Germany you can run into several legal problems. For an actual insurance corp. it cant hardly get better.

For a “invesdeveloper”? A nightmair! To many legal problems which could arise and bankrupt any enterpreneur with out the knowledge of the insurance industry.

There is no single language in Europe so a more generic domain name like waschmachinen.com or washingmachines.eu does not work. And a lot of products can not be sold to other countries. No shop in Germany will offer to sell washing machines to Spain, the transportation costs are huge and servicing a nightmare. And life insurance is very specific to a country due to regulations so lebensversicherungen.de is much better than lifeinsurance.eu.

    The history is specific :
The mamax life insurance AG was founded in 1999 as an Internet-life insurers. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mannheimer AG Holding and thus belongs to the Mannheim Group. Like any other life insurance in Germany it has been approved by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) and is under their strict control.
As for “To many legal problems” ? Just white mark / partner / co-brand.
lebensversicherungen.de Country code or even better .com both are killers anything else has no credibility.
Nothing on Whois to trackback. If successful why sell unless Mannheimer AG Holding have to bid for the domain.
Life insurance is a specialist product, this is a great killer keyword for broker to use for clarity of policy & hand holding.

No – lebensversicherungen.de is OWNED by vipex and just rented out to Mamax. I guess the monthly rent is not enough to write home about and a sale is always more interesting for cash flow reasons…
