FourSquare Forgets To Renew Their Domain Name & Site Goes To Godaddy Parked Page

March 26, 2010 by Michael Berkens

Seems like even the highest flying tech companies can screw up on the simplest of things, including forgetting to renew their domain name.

FourSquare one of the hottest apps on planet website foursquare.com went to a Godaddy.com parked page for a while today, after the company let the domain name registration a lapse.

A few hours later after paying the renewal fee their site was back up and running.

Looks like they learned their lesson as well and now renewed through 2020.

Wonder how much that domain would have went for at the Godaddy.com auction?

Since they only purchased it 6 months ago, surprised they didn’t renew it at that time. Maybe they didn’t even notice it at that time.

it’s strange they have updated it only for six months… also the newbies in domaining always renew a domain for at least one year

They didn’t “renew it” for 6 months, that was just what was left on the registration when they purchased it from the last owner. They could have easily renewed at that time, but did not.
