The extended auction for domainferst closes at 3:15 EST today on SnapNames.com
One of our picks from the live auction is back up again for sale today, Klimt.com.
At Sotheby’s yesterday, while the $104.3 million sale of Alberto Giacometti’s “L’homme qui marche 1 (Walking Man 1)” made news as being the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction, I couldn’t help but notice the second highest sale went for a painting by Gustav Klimt’s entitled,”Kirche in Cassone” for $43 Million dollars, making it the most ever paid for a landscape artwork.
Klimt.com can be had for a fraction of the price with starting reserve set at $360K.
The whois for Klimt.net is interesting.

What are you seeing that I’m not?
back in the days when i was an artist i did a very similar sculpture… it was called walking bum… it wasn’t cast in bronze and it wasn’t as large… but you coulda got it for less than half of 104.3 million. too late now though… i’m holdin’ on to it.

I’m no art expert, but I think if you want to get $100 Million + for your artwork you better come up with a better name for it than “bum”
Klimt.com is basically worthless. I wouldn’t pay $500 for it. It doesn’t matter how much his art sells for.
How much is it at now? $360k? That is insane … I have to agree with Jack on the value. Just because the art sold that high doesn’t mean that same valuation goes for the domain. Tho if it does sell that high it will be good for the industry even better if it was me selling it!
Plus it would be an easy target for a UDRP. Hello!
Why would it be an easy target for a UDRP?
Wow! I thought I have the domain name “gustav”, when I checked it is gustuv.com …dang.

“Why would it be an easy target for a UDRP?”
Ferrari like Klimt is a last name. If I use Ferrari.com to sell Ferraris don’t think I’d get a UDRP?
Same goes for klimt. Its only value is in selling this guy’s art. UDRP’s for last names are very common as I am sure you know.
Ferrari is trademarked is Klimt?
“Ferrari is trademarked is Klimt?”
There is no requirement for a trademark to file a UDRP. This is especially true of last names and people’s names. Most UDRP inolving people’s names depend on common law marks. You know this too.
