How is Beccary.com Worth Over $10K? At Auction @ Godaddy.com

January 19, 2010 by Michael Berkens

We couldn’t help but notice the auction for the domain name Beccary.com, at Godaddy.com, which has a high bid of over $10K with almost 2 days to go.

The domain has a valuation by Godaddy.com of less than $1K and although it get some traffic its not the enormous amount of traffic that would support such a high price.

The domain did seem to be a popular site last year, but still its seems like a lot of cash to me.

btw, it’s also a signature and link on the bottom of many wordpress pages- the traffic could probably be monetized that way

its because it used to be owned by Becca Wei who created some of the best wordpress themes and smilies

So are my domains worth more because I own them?

It’s because the domain has thousands of backlinks and has a PageRank of 7

The domain receives good traffic, and it is PR = 7.

If a company is looking to be established online, selling wordpress themes, I think this is a great domain to own. It has over 8000 links that are as signatures in many wordpress sites. The owner of the domain once wrote the codes for great wordpress themes which are still being used on many sites with the link to the domain.

I think it is a great domain and good to develop to take it to next level, if one who sells wordpress themes.

Once upon a time, there lived six blind men in a village. One day the villagers told them, “Hey, there is an elephant in the village today.”

They had no idea what an elephant is. They decided, “Even though we would not be able to see it, let us go and feel it anyway.” All of them went where the elephant was. Everyone of them touched the elephant.

“Hey, the elephant is a pillar,” said the first man who touched his leg.

“Oh, no! it is like a rope,” said the second man who touched the tail.

“Oh, no! it is like a thick branch of a tree,” said the third man who touched the trunk of the elephant.

“It is like a big hand fan” said the fourth man who touched the ear of the elephant.

“It is like a huge wall,” said the fifth man who touched the belly of the elephant.

“It is like a solid pipe,” Said the sixth man who touched the tusk of the elephant.

They began to argue about the elephant and everyone of them insisted that he was right. It looked like they were getting agitated. A wise man was passing by and he saw this. He stopped and asked them, “What is the matter?” They said, “We cannot agree to what the elephant is like.” Each one of them told what he thought the elephant was like. The wise man calmly explained to them, “All of you are right. The reason every one of you is telling it differently because each one of you touched the different part of the elephant. So, actually the elephant has all those features what you all said.”

“Oh!” everyone said. There was no more fight. They felt happy that they were all right

It is also possible that the high big is coming from Becca herself or a sponsor, trying to get her domain and site up and running, again!

    Alexandar

The way the godaddy.com expired auction works is the original registrant still have a right to renew the domain even after the auction ends so all she would have to do is pay the renewal fee.

It is possible that she is using this to gauge fair market value and then will renew the domain after the auction ends

I stop bidding because it doesn’t make sense to me. I can’t even tell if I’m bidding against real person or bots?

I did my own researched and I can’t justify the current price so I stop. It’s hard to spell anyway, existing wordpress template users will go to wordpress website to check for update.

    Cheers,
    EM @ KING.NET
