Simon’s “The X Factor” Doesn’t Own Any Of Its Domains In The US or UK

January 11, 2010 by Michael Berkens

Now its official.

Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol after the upcoming season, in favor of his TV show in England called The X Factor which he is bringing to the states in 2011.

In honor of Simon’s decision, lets take a look at some related domains to see who owns them and where there going.

Xfactor.com is owned by a company called Ace Publishing, and is redirecting to an adult domain, adultfriendlytraffic.com.

However, the site the domain is being redirected to, comes up with an empty page, yet the “site” still has a Compete and Alexa ranking.

TheXFactor.com redirects to the site of StunMedia, which calls itself “the first production company that capitalizes on Web 2.0 philosophies and user behavior to create next generation online business solutions and user experiences.”  This domain has an Alexa Ranking of 212,000.

TheXFactor.co.uk is owned by by an indvidual in the UK and the domain is going to a parked page showing results for music education and music auditions and has an Alexa Score of over 6,000,000.

Xfactor.co.uk is going to a resolving site, but again it comes up as  blank page with an Alex Ranking of just over 1,000,000.

Thex-factor.com, is going to a Godaddy registry parked page with an Alexa ranking of 23,000,000.

Finally X-Factor.com is going to a site which labels itself, “Simply, the coolest business portal in the entire world”

The site then goes on to say (“We are currently BETA testing our website in the United Kingdom only”).

Maybe “the coolest business portal in the world” will be entering the US market shortly.

The TV show’s official site is located at xfactor.itv.com

I have a great typo of X-Factor.co.uk which at one point 3 years ago was receiving over 3,000 UV p/day, Simon has asked me recently to drop the domain or face UDRP.

I don’t mind handing it over, now that I’ve bought a car with the proceeds 🙂

    loool!

Simon and his company SyCo have never been good with domains. They don’t use the web and social networking to it’s full potential. Maybe Simon needs to bring his company into 2010 by using the web a bit more!

Simon is getting better with domains, I used to own Syco.tv, picked it up on the cheap and held it for 12months to see if there was any traffic or interest but let it drop earlier this year – He has since registered this via Sony Bmg whom he is tied into.

Also Freemantle the company that helps make the XFactor with Syco TV owns XFactor.tv which redirects to the ITV website.

But there not that good, This year the XFactor Winner Joe Mcelderry his company / Sony BMG registered the domain Joe-Music.com on 24/11/09 Three weeks before he won the show… At that point JoeMcElderry.com was taken in all major ext but OfficialJoeMcElderry.com was still available for weeks after. . .

I dont know what he will do in regards to the US as I dont know who he has partnered with for this launch next year could be Freemantle America and they might use XFactor.tv or maybe he will use some of his £100 million + personal wealth to buy a decent name like XFactor.com or XFactor-America.com etc who knows . . .

    Just my thoughts. . .
