if you can get a good price on a name that is worthless… is that really a deal?

I have few question if someone can answer .

Do the snap name charge any fee for putting the name for sale on their auction ?

Do the different languages domain names sell on this auction ?

    Thank you .

    Fero

Snapnames does not charge a fee to place a domain for sale in their system.

They charge a commission of 15% on the sale.

So you went through all the 250 domains and think everyone is worthless?

None of the domains meet my BS portfolio.

Some nice names, but quite a few are way, way overpriced…but if this does well, its good news for me so I will be happy to watch the results…I like quote.org but not many others are priced reasonable for the current state of the financial and mortgage space and lack of revenue that is being generated…

I agree. There are some overpriced. There are also some good names here for the developer.

Like all domain auctions, some good domains fairly priced, some overpriced domains and there will be at least one domain after all results are announced that people will say “it was a steal”

It’s interesting to see how the devistation of PPC has crumbled the value of domain names among domainers and investors.

Unless you’re an end-user or developer/programmer, domains at those prices just carry too much risk.

There are some decent ones for no reserve.

To a developer a good domain name is more precious than gold.

I’ve been making requests for years that the major auction houses have a special template for domain lot sales. So far, I believe only Domain Tools has stepped up. Adding a “by the way” list of extra domains in the comment section of a spreadsheet does not create the marketing impact that a custom designed, multiple domain template offers. Often, these extra names are given little attention or are ignored altogether.

It seems to me that a corporate end user would see value in the ability to purchase the .com, .net and .org of the same keyword or phrase in one transaction, but the selling platforms don’t allow the domain names to be showcased in this way.

In addition, when selecting domains for auction, a stated preference should be offered for domains with developed websites. In fact, every domain offered for sale at a Major Live Auction Event should be required to have a fully developed website.

The underlying message of choosing not to develop a category killing domain name valued at tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars is that as an industry, many of us have little interest in benefiting the public on the way to getting paid. Even when the big money does roll in, it’s sometimes without regard to the ultimate disposition of the name just sold. Why break a sweat when an end user will pay the price and do the heavy lifting for us?

Is it any wonder that we are sometimes wrongly accused of cybersquatting?

Imagine the difference in public perception if a live, premium auction event was preceded by bidders touring a convention hall filled with hundreds of flat screen displays demonstrating fully functioning versions of the websites that would go to the highest bidder along with the domain name.

Perhaps a full color brochure with metrics and analytics data is available for handout next to the display screen. Maybe the domain owner is even available for questions and comments. Did you ever wonder why the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas offers more to its attendees than a photocopy of a patent and an order pad?

Let’s not kid ourselves; we could learn a thing or two from Madison Avenue and the Don Drapers of the world.
