Moniker.com Releases It’s Live Domain Auction List For TRAFFIC Silicon Valley

April 13, 2009 by Michael Berkens

Moniker.com tonight, released a tentative list of domains for it’s live domain auction, which will be held as part of the TRAFFIC Silicon Valley show later this month.

The Moniker.com auction will be held on Wednesday April 29 at 3 PM PST.

Remote bidding will be available on SnapNames.com.

The list seems to include some excellent domains, including many one word .com, at very reasonable reserves.

The list also includes some very good short domains including a numerical one, 700.com which at a range of $10K-$25K seems like a great buy considering 401.com sold last week for $65,000 at NameJet.com.

Don’t think its any larger, about 180 domains

A lot of very good names, they will do well…
BUT… nothing that makes me drool 🙂

    My pick, liveauctions.com

This list looks better than past auctions and reserves seem more reasonable. I anticipate there will be active bidding on a few of the names priced ready to sell.

I wonder if 15yearmortgagerates.com would have any traffic ?

There are alot of no reserves in the extended auction.Someone needs to make a list of those and post them. Here are a few.

    AccidentPolicies.com
    Accepting.net
    AlcoholStore.com
    Aplot.com

In this state of economy, these domain names still seem way over priced! Where are the bargains gone??? I dont think any of these domain names can justify their prices based on the revenue they currently earn. If so, which ones???

I submitted 3 great .coms and no accepted ones…and a .mobi is in the live auction…ugggg

Sounds like something a lowballer would say.

I’m impressed with the list. A lot of quality, functional domains. The prices seem “about right” for the buyer and seller.

The smart money is buying right now while sellers
are temporarily concerned about the economy and trimming their portfolio.

(Disclaimer – none of the names on the list are mine.)

I like that we are seeing at least a peppering of some alternative domains. I like discountfares.org, slots.asia, and bargain.travel.
On a side note, I think some of the domains listed are getting quite long ex. californiacommericalrealestate.com (talk about typo heaven).

If everyone attending TRAFFIC or reading through this list has just one name they would bid on the auction should be quite succcessful.

There are several domains i like on the list and will be bidding on, but no sense pointing them out, is there?

I don’t understand your comment, sued.com a very good domain for a law firm at $1-$5K, that is overpriced?

Photodeveloping.com (yes I know most people use digital cameras but there are still many of these) at $1-$5K, that’s overpriced.

There are a lot of these bang on domains priced somewhere from a $1 to $5K, they can’t be overpriced.

    announced.com no reserve.

A one word .com which could be used for wedding announcements or birth announcements or press releases at no reserve, is too much??

Do you expect the domain owner to pay you to take these domains off their hands?

  16. MHB says

    April 14, 2009 at 9:20 am

    Domemainer

I understand the domain is long but, californiacommericalrealestate.com is bang on for the subject it covers.

Commericalrealestate.com is plenty long as well but its the best possible domain for the subject covers.

Does anyone know when the San Diego Geo Domain auction list will be coming out.

  19. don says

    April 14, 2009 at 10:08 am

I think realty is way overpriced, this space is super tough to make headway in and there are a number of companies with no branding that have done quite well…zillow, trulia, etc….

I would take Santa Clara as the best of the bunch, I think this has been up before…

  20. MHB says

    April 14, 2009 at 10:11 am

    Don

I believe Santa Clara was priced WAY higher last time it was up.

Now at a realistic price. Some other good Geo’s on the list as well.

    ???

    LOL

  23. MHB says

    Tco

If you post the 2 domains you sold here I will notify Moniker.com for you and they will remove the domains from the auction.

Otherwise, of course you should let them know immediately and this is of course one of the reasons I said in the post that the live list is subject to change.

Allowing of course for reasonable differences of opinion among those who understand such things, agree that all-in-all this is an excellent list.

At least 75% are clearly priced to sell now; in today’s market/economy.

    Something for virtually everyone.

A good list of domains but remember folks, the domains are only good as they are developed.

Hey MHB….any idea cloud.com sold for or was it sold?

  27. monte says

    April 15, 2009 at 8:56 am

This is by far the best quality, best priced list of domains that I have seen since we started the online and live auction segment in 1999. The reason the extended auction list is so large is because there were so many good quality names submitted at the right prices to drive interest.

I predict that the extended auction will be as big or bigger than the live auctions in the very near future. DomainFest extended auction results were almost that of the Live event making the whole event successful. I foresee the same here.

The live list is filled with very good domains priced right to drive interest and bidding. Like you said Andrew, we are not looking to set a total sales record here and adjusted our strategy to provide the right names at the right prices in this economy!

there should be a ton of action during both the online live and extended auctions from those not attending the conference.

Thank you for the positive feedback!

My domain (www.cidermills.com) originally registered in 1999 was accepted into this Moniker Live Auction. The sale will include the web site. Advertising revenue earned each year from CiderMills.com is around $1000 per year, with much greater potential. The domain is listed with a low reserve of just $5000. Happy bidding!

How much do you think the domains below will sell for

    sued.com
    700.com

  30. MHB says

    April 25, 2009 at 5:06 pm

    Mike

    700.com is a hard one.

We know that 401.com just sold for $65K but 401 is an area code and matched up with 401k a powerful brand.

900.com was at several auctions with a higher reserve, I want to say like $50K, but just going from memory, and failed to sell a few times.

I would say somewhere between $25K-$45K

Sued.com, my guess is will sell somewhere between $10k-$25K.
