FaceBook Hits 200 Million Users Today

April 9, 2009 by Michael Berkens

Wow

Talk about the power of the Internet.

Today according to a post on Facebook’s offical blog, CEO Mark Zuckerberg, wrote that Facebook will welcome their 200 millionth active user some time today.

One site, 200 million users.

It took the United States some 200 years to get the same number of people it took Facebook to reach in just a few.

Started in just 2004, well after most of us registered our first domain, Facebook has gone from 1 user to 200,000,000.

Think that’s impressive?

Consider the  fact that Facebook hit 100 million users, just 8 months ago, in August 2008.

That’s right.  In just the last 8 months Facebook has gone from 100 million users to 200 million users.

Wow.

How about the fact that Facebook added 50 million users so far in 2009.

Wow.

How about the fact that Facebook is adding 500,000 people per day.

500,000 new users every day.

Unbelievable.

Inconceivable just a short time ago.

The power of the Internet.

There has been nothing like it in the history of the world.

And we are all a small part of it.

What business would you rather be in than the internet business?

I don’t think that I would want to be in a “Facebook” type business. They have yet to make a profit.=)

    I think this great NEWS!

Its true they havent made profit yet but still this business is unreal and can only grow stronger and Im sure profit cant be that far away.

Google didnt make profits for many years when it started trading also.

Indeed a majority of their visitors are outside the US and in many third world countries where they run through tons of bandwidth which is very expensive in those places….

We’ll see what they can do with the 200,000,000 heads! 🙂

    Troy

Bet you wouldn’t have minded owning some shares of MySpace.com when they sold out to Fox for over 1 billion pr YouTube when they sold out likewise to Google.

I agree with Troy. For such a large audience, I don’t see much profit. If I had the opportunity of traffic of 200 million people from around the world, I would seize the opportunity $$$$.

200,000 million records now that can be used against 200,000 million people in court as a profile source.

    Wait until folks realize this.

BTW, all those on facebooks or on myspace are what the marketers called–attention -Wh-ores aka drama queens.

Everyone wants to be “discovered” and noticeable.
