Hybrid.com on Auction At GreatDomains.com

November 17, 2008 by Michael Berkens

Sedo, today announced that it is brokering the sale of Hybrid.com, one of the most highly sought-after domain names in the automotive sector today. Hybrid.com will be featured on Sedo’s premium auction platform, GreatDomains.com, taking place December 4th through the 11th.

The hybrid vehicle market continues to grow even in a slow economy, and auto-industry forecaster J.D. Power & Associates expects hybrid vehicles to make up 4.6 percent of the total new vehicle market by 2010 when there will be as many as 65 hybrid models for sale in the U.S.

“Hybrid.com speaks directly to the future of the automobile industry,” said Elan Blutinger, the Washington D.C.-based owner of the domain name. “With the relevance of hybrid cars becoming more apparent each day, this domain has the potential to become a valuable business platform. Hybrid.com can host anything from a hybrid-related blog to the first exclusive hybrid automobile marketplace. The possibilities are endless.”

For more information on Hybrid.com, prospective buyers can contact Sedo domain broker Bill Cox directly at bill@sedo.com or 617.499.7236

This could be one of the biggest domain sales of the year if the right people know about the domain – I hope sedo contacted GM, Honda etc all about this …

Look forward to hearing how the sale goes.

Strange, strange time to try to sell this name, with the auto industry in the crapper, and getting even worse…….

The era of hybrid automobiles will only last a few more years as the technology will go to all electric, battery powered cars.

We need to build out wind farms in the midwest states and solar farms in the west coast.

The battery technology is almost there. The entrepreneur who started up PayPal claims his battery powered cars already can go a range of 200 miles on a full charge. The only drawback right now is the batteries are so darn expensive because they aren’t being mass produced yet.

Microsoft, are you listening out there? This is the biggest opportunity in history. Save the US, save the world. Follow Google’s lead!

Think beyond hybrid cars there are “hybrids” of numerous things like bicycles, etc.

Agree with GPS. This might be the worst month in the history of the world to try to sell this name. This name should be going to an end-user (Toyota or Honda). Considering it is earnings season for them (Toyota reported horrible numbers) and the US manufacturers are either going bankrupt or being nationalized (both of which means no excess spending this quarter), it just does not strike me as a time to be trying to sell this to these end users.

I’m surprised they decided to sell this gem at the same time when the two biggest auto makers in the US are facing bankruptcy.

On the contrary, this domain can be the highest selling name of the year considering the hybrid industry has gained popularity since the rise of crude oil costs.

    Guys,
Why does everyone mention Toyota and GM
Personaly I do not think the big car makers need the name that badly but it is not bad to have for a bagain. If you are savvy enough to search and spell hybrid, more than likely you allready know who makes the best of them. Most searches for Hybrid start with Toyota.com
This is my opinnion and not supported by any fact.

Uhh… the auto industry are all ASSES in every sense of the word higher up and you think they even know or care about domains?? They got bigger problems to deal with and domains are probably the last thing on their agenda… They are dinosaurs.

Not a good time to sell for the seller… He should of sold it a year ago 😉

There is no way the reserve on this domain is any less than mid six figures
