Cameroon (.com.cm) Domain Sunrise Period Opens October 15th

September 30, 2008 by Michael Berkens

NETCOM.cm Sarl, the official registry in charge of the Country Code Top level Domains of The Republic of Cameroon, proclaimed today that it will launch second level .cm domain name registrations on 15 October 2008.
Now NETCOM can offer .COM.CM, .NET.CM and .CO.CM to businesses and individuals throughout the world.”
“We would like to take this chance to thank our three partners for the great efforts they made to NETCOM in the past few months: ANTIC – National Agency for Information Technology and Communication (ANTIC); Instra Corporation – our honored Validation Agent for Sunrise Application and our very first Registrar; and CoCCA – our backend Registry Service Provider”, Mr. Kaigama.
The launch campaign will commence with a short sunrise period to give holders of national trademarks premium opportunities to protect their brands online. Then following is the general registration, starting November 15, allowing the general public to register sought-after .CM domain names.
As a typo of .CN – the current No. 1 Country Code Top Level Domain, .CM is seen to have the potential popularity and impact on internet-based Global Brand Protection. Worldwide registrars are welcomed by NETCOM to come on board and contributing in increasing the number of .cm domains. Registration applications must be made through an Accredited Registrar.

Hopefully they will clean up their act. All tld’s for that matter. Typosquatting and traffic re-direction was a bad way to brand the .cm extension.

    Best Regards.
