    NewYorkLoft.com & NewYorkApartment.com
    MadisonAve.com

HeatingFuel.com without reserve looks good, too.

PartTimeHelp.com, Peephole.com, StayAtHome.com, and the best one: Drive.net, all targeted and speak to huge audiences.

This list of names sux. Reserves are too high. I dont see one name selling that is listed over $1k.

One thing not showing in these lists are Traffic. I know Dabbler.com get’s 1,500 uniques on 5,000 impressions, which would change the way some people look at the domain and I’m sure other’s.

I dont think there could be a worse time for this auction…..I wouldnt be suprised if people were dssappointed overall with selling prices even though many of the names are good. People have far greater concerns-

MINOR CORRECTION “suprised if people weren’t disappointed”

You guys really see someone spending $200K on these 2 names??

  11. jody says

    September 21, 2008 at 5:22 pm

Sadly not, since domainers have to maximize their value, but noone could argue the value is not there. That one that has 100 times more inherent value to me, just need the right e-commerce team to extract it.

Nice domains, but I would assume even the large collectors are looking at names that can be developed and monetized with the easiest biz model to adapt at this point. This has been my approach over the past few years

I like the brandabilty of mortgagecenter.com, but there are some other nice finance names going at ny for lower reserves , traveldirectory also would be one that I think would be fairly easy to develop and monetize

Illinois.org and lcdtelevisions also have some appeal.

I think the bounce in the stock market could lift the spirits for the upcoming show.

Best values are Illinois.org (a steal at anything less than 50k), Drive.net (.nets are problematic; but can’t go wrong at a giveaway price like this; and will sell for 25k+), SeafoodRestaurants (huge, easily reached market), Vulnerable (many possibilities/markets; nice 1-word .com at a superb price; will well for 10k+), PartTimeHelp (nowhere near as desirable as the far superior PartTimeJob/s; but a great “2nd tier ‘job’ .com” at an excellent price; HeatingFuel & PianoTuners (can’t beat zero minimum bid; will sell for 2k+ each).

For all you guys who like SeafoodRestaurants.com just to remind you that the singular, SeafoodRestaurant.com is at auction on the first night auction.

@don . I think you mean investor not necessarily a collector. I was part of a team that picked these with that in mind. I think there are a lot of names on this list with that easy development potential. The geo names for starters : palermo.com, illinois.org, newyorkapartment.com and newyorkloft.com .

There’s names with directory possibilities which have obvious development potential : traveldirectory.com, association, banquethall.com, illinois.org, seafoodrestaurants.com

Then you have consistent niches like jobs with a great name like Openings.com (as in Job Openings) and PartTimeHelp.com .

or how about product domains with HUGE search volume like LCDTelevisions.com.

lastly re: mortgagecenter.com . I’ve looked for a mortgage name for years. These are REALLY hard to come by, especially one that gets search traffic and typeins already. Which names did you see elsewhere better than this one ? I’d like to take a look myself since I can’t bid on this one. 🙂

Seeing all the comments of picks from people on what they think is good is always interesting and insightful. It looks like everyone here has a different favorite. Hope to see you bidding

great names for sure. surprised at some of the info domains that are available. awsome.

    @Steve M

Check out the Moniker live auction list

LowRateMortgage.com – which gets organic traffic via google, you can refer to the catalog for details and a link to real stats for this site

Also being sold via moniker is bestmortgagerates.com, refinanceguide.com, consumerloans.com are a few other nice finance related sites

In reference to your investor approach, I would concur with the caveat that investors today want a fairly easy path towards development with business that can easily be monetized, which is why the finance sites and travel sites were easy to identify. The geo sites should also do well here.

I like the mortgagecenter name and a few other ones you listed as well, looking forward to the auctions this week

i would buy husband & wife for $200,000…
sell husband for $250,000… and keep wife.
i mean if i had $200,000… and some balls.

Thanks Don. lowratemortgage.com looks nice too. good find. My preference is a nice 2 word brand that gets searches too. I guess that’s why it costs more.

I don’t like seafoodrestaurants.com – It’s a nice generic but I’m not confident about the model. Will someone in NYC advertise in a nationwide website about seafood restaurant. Is search volume on “seafood restaurants” that high? The way to make that work is to create the pay for play type site where you name anyone who will pay you to advertise “one of the top seafood restaurants in america” – similar to what they do in the airline magazines with steakhouses.

Husband.com / wife.com – nice words, but they aren’t words that lend themselves to a long term website. What kind of site do you build on those words?
