These should come with a complementary roll of toilet paper. If there are going to be hundreds of new extensions one can think of endless more useful TLDs then .me. Seems almost as bad as when I saw someone selling motherfucke.rs. Are these really that slick? And slapping studentloans in front of .me, isn’t that as useless as .ws? If anyone ever develops on this swamp land I bet people will probably type in insure.me.com if they hear the site verbatim.

    Hi Jody,

your comment just made me realise why Apple recently acquired me.com …

if Apple activates its sub domains, everytime someone types in insure.me.com , or why.me.com ,
they could end up on Apple’s website..
    clever..

of course.. maybe , Apple could soon be offering to its customers the possibility of buying their own subdomain such as.. “yourname.me.com ”

    interesting..

i’m really surprised at how high some of these are going. unfortunately i thought I could snipe them at the end, but this “add-on” time means that the person who wants it most will probably win.

  4. MHB says

    July 24, 2008 at 4:35 pm

    Tekmo

I think if they keep extending the auctions by a full day the sniping idea is not going to work.

  5. tekmo says

    July 24, 2008 at 4:38 pm

Yeah I know, my plans have been foiled.

@ jody I agree that domain hacks aren’t worth it for any TLD. There’s scripts out there to generate domain hacks to create these novelty domains with any TLD, .me is just another one of them.

  6. geek3d says

    July 24, 2008 at 7:09 pm

Just wondering if we put a 3d in front of generic names for .me would that be worth anything….? They are almost ALL available.
Please tell me before you buy them all so I can get some…

  7. MHB says

    Geek

I don’t know what you mean LLL.me names?

  8. jblack says

    Realtor is a registered trademark.

  9. Tony Lam, DMD says

    July 24, 2008 at 9:05 pm

I think Geek means domains like “genericword”3d.me sort of like geek3d.com except dotme.

To that idea, I would say, “Save your money, Geek!”

  10. geek3d says

    July 24, 2008 at 9:13 pm

Yes, Tony, you are correct. I own wallstreet3d.com as most of the generic names 3d are taken for .com . The internet is going 3d (feel free to google 3d internet). They say some things were meant to be flat, but the internet is not one of them. 3d is going to be big so it is possible that 3d in front of a domain name or in back of a domain name could be worth something. I would hate to miss the boat again… The 3d revolution coming!!

Many people do not like the .me domain name ext. I think they are good especially this one listed on the website

  12. Tony Lam, DMD says

    July 25, 2008 at 8:17 am

    Geek,

I agree with you on the 3D. Porn3D.com’s and maybe geo3D.com’s will have value. There could be others with value like you have. In the near future, 3D as a suffix might be as legit as 360, 247 or 411.

I own a few geo3D’s like manhattan3d.com and a few one word porn3d.com’s just to hedge my bets. But I think this will only work with dotcom’s. If you’re going to speculate and make no mistake, this is speculation, only speculate in dotcom!

If you were driving down the street and saw 3 billiards:
NewYork3d.mobi – My Choice as it seems interesting
    NewYork360.mobi
    NewYork.mobi
    NewYork411.mobi
    NewYork.mobi
    Any .mobi fans??

I need to re-write as there were MANY errors in my last posting shown above.

If you were driving down the street and saw 4 billboards
    NewYork3d.mobi
    NewYork360.mobi
    NewYork411.mobi
    NewYork.mobi
Which would seem more interesting?? 3D in front of any name may be the next big thing…
    Any .mobi fans out there???
Anyway to ERASE my above posting??

  15. jblack says

    July 25, 2008 at 12:35 pm

Billboards are needed only when there is no type in traffic.

  16. jblack says

    July 25, 2008 at 1:00 pm

And billboards are expensive too. 3D on mobile devices? Seems about as marketable as IMAX movies on Ipods. But hey, mabe you can sell mobi compliant paper goggles 🙂

  18. geek3d says

    July 26, 2008 at 11:56 am

MHB… Go to 3dshopping.com I am not affiliated with this site, but this is the up and coming way just about all websites will look like in the near future (the 3d aspect anyway). After you view this site, let me know if you get the 3d thing…. and if you like the 3d thing. 🙂

    Geek,

I recommend you read all the back posts of Rick Schwartz at ricksblog.com and the entire “Ask Frank a question” section at sevenmile.com. That’s a free million dollar domain education right there.

As for your .mobi inquiry, read this DNJournal bio of Rick Schwartz at http://www.dnjournal.com/columns/cover020204.htm

It was written over 4 years ago. It was applicable then, now and probably 4 years from now if not more. There are nuggets of domain wisdom in it and you find out why Rick is the “domain king” for a reason. When lightning strikes the same spot many times, it is not by coincidence.
