.Me Auctions Begin Tommorow

July 20, 2008 by Michael Berkens

Just got an e-mail saying that the first .ME domains auctions start tomorrow for those domains which received more than 1 pre-order.

The auctions will last 3 days each and we will of course let you know how they are going.

Here are the domains we have on our radar for the next 2 days:

ride.me
why.me
escort.me
translate.me
hug.me

The last name, Hug.me was the same domain that the “Tech Crunch” article discussed last week.

Apparently that domain was given to at least 8 people and now it looks like they it was taken back and placed into an auction.

We would expect hug.me to get the most bidding for the first bunch of .me names.

    Mike,

Just wondering if you dabbled into the dotAsia pool at all?

No I didn’t, and guess with lasvegas.asia selling for 30K already that was a bad move

I have about 17 i think of these auctions to go through over the course of the next month. I’m curious to see how high they go… i don’t plan on bidding too high on any particular one so we’ll see. If you look at the previous sales list when you log into the auction…. there was a bidding war for lastminute.me and ended up over $3k or something which i thought was weird.

FYI: I logged in and this is what has taken place thus far according to the .me auction site/recent sales.

    plug.me $75
    reminyl.me $75
    dove.me $805
    lastminute.me $3,605
    wellness.me $1,855

Good luck to all with .me auctions!

I have 35 in total over the next few weeks.

I think that the ones starting tommorow are the first ones.

I think the one’s showing already completed like lastminute.me are test names, not real auctions.

If you do the whois on it you will see that domain was given to a trademark holder, not through an auction

    Scott

If you do a whois on all these names you will see they were awarded based on trademarks. Those auctions never occurred.

    Thank you for the clarification!

I bought a bunch for pure speculation value…
    No Auction Required For:
    StockTrading.Me
    CarRacing.Me
    AutoRacing.Me
    FuturesTrading.Me
    and others….
I know they are not clever like Finance.Me but for reg fee thought it was worth the shot, many great keyword terms available

Ah ok that clears things up. I’m excited to see how high or low the domains sell for!

I agree I hope the auction goes smoothly, also it would be nice to know how many people you are bidding against but so far, no info on this

A lot of these on the reserved list.

    http://www.domen.me/cms/site_files/dotME_Premium_Names.txt

This name will auctioned by the registry, starting in September.

There are still good .me domain names available for registration.

.you / .whatever is coming out next year, why waste time registering .me ?

  18. MHB says

    Kenny

    Here is my thoughts.

There are some natural words that work with .me.

    Take hug.me for example.

or fly.me great for an airlines.

Those names have value in my opinion.

Now just picking words and putting them in front of .me doesn’t make sense, like wildwomen.me or roses.me I don’t get.
