The acquisition of Moniker by Oversee is really a true PAIN!

Now all auctions start at Californian hours: 3h00 PST

This means in Europe you cannot bid 🙁

    Grrr!!!!

    What idiots they are!

The time the auction is based on the time slot the show organizers give them.

I mean this show, the affiliate summit, is not own or run by moniker or snapnames or oversee. Nor is the TRAFFIC show.

So if they give them this time to do it, that is the time they get.

These shows always have speakers, exhibitors and other things going on besides the auction. So they make it at a time later in the day. When the shows are held on the east coast they are usually have a 3 or 4 EST start.

You know back in the day, when we acquired most of our domains, when domains were just released by the registrars, without any auction, the release was at like 5am EST, and I was up with all the other big domain guys working at 4am, until 7am everyday, 7 days a week 365 days a year.

These auctions are held just 10 days a year, so if there are names you want, stay up late or get up early and bid.

    Time is no excuse.

First I do apologize for “the idiots”.
    That’s me, direct and impulsive…
It’s not a way to speak. I am sorry.

I am agree with you that sometimes they are obligated to use the time frame given by the conference organisators. But sometimes the organisators are the same running the auction…

Let see what time they will select for conferences running in New York, Florida, …
If it’s not 3.00 PM of the LOCAL hour then this will confirm what I said previously.

Now time is NOT an EXCUSE:
    – All potential domain investors are not domainers.
    – You can be a domainer and have to wake up soon for go work.

If these auctions were running at the middle of the night in USA time you will see how most will be pesting so PLEASE think also about the rest of the world, you are not alone…
When auctions run begining of the afternoon in NY time then Europe can bid.

    Thank You.

I will be at Affiliate Summit. If there is anyone interested in meeting up, LMK. We have a packed schedule but am willing to work in a domain meeting or 2 for sure.

It may be a decent venue if any of these names look iof interest. I will attend the auction. Fun.

    Greg

Actually not going to be at the venue.

Would like to meet you maybe at the next show.

Hmm.. nothing much to like here: expectations must be low. Look like mostly junk multiword names. Of course our eyebrows went up on the LL.COM no reserve.

    our’s too

    will rocket up to 100K

  8. Gordon says

Too many names on this list. I really think at these other events the list of names should be a) good and b) small. make it so that it is 45 minutes long and that EVERYONE at the show wants to be there. This will take hours, and those not bidding will walk away bored to death.

Monte knows more than I do, but some of these auctions seem like they could do more harm than good if they have bad names and not much sells….

  9. admin says

    Gordon

Actually today’s auction did almost 400K, and about 1/2 of the names sold.
