If you are interested we need a time machine to go back to 1998.

Namepros member Hookbox dug up a blast from the past that looks at some big time names for very cheap prices. Of course the timeframe was 1998 and not many understood the value or potential of domain names like Rick Schwartz did.

Shiver me timbers – I’d take them all!

The same will be said about premium new gtld domains like “bank.loans”, even with the $443/year renewal. $443/year is less than a rounding error for a bank.

      Its not true for mass.
Banking industry was different then.It is too broad and competitive term.
And carrying over the mortgage payment of 500/month is not worth in this uncertain market, unless you are sure you can develop it or you are holding very selective portfolio or you have extra change(which you do not need for at least 24-36 months). HIGH renewal fees are pure cash cow for registry. Please do not mislead people, here. It is lots of money. Year goes by just like that.

Funny they were willting to sell their domain name which is probably the least valuable on the list for the most amount of money.

Most of the domains on that list really aren’t that valuable, even today.

      VERY TRUE.

Nowhere close to true, Bankloans.com alone is a huge name.

        bankloans.net 3,500 USD 2011-02-01 Sedo
        bankloans.tv 3,710 USD 2007-12-05 Sedo

What is the .com worth a helluva lot more than the .tv

bankloans.com is maybe worth $20-30K today…not that much in the big scheme of things

      Yeah right.

        And bank.loans?

Two keywords with out the overhead of .com. There’s a reason communications industries lose overhead.

Redundancy, is a word that is often applied during an evolutionary period in time!

        Groovy

I bought AluminumSiding.com for less than the price on the list a few months ago on Namejet.

Tubs is a good one. It’s LLLL and can be a profitable niche if done right. It can also mean others things, so very brandable as well.

Domain Name Sales quoted a buyer high for WalkInTubs.com. Tubs.com is probably a 6 figure domain right now. I’m sure this domain can be developed into a great company. Blouses.com is another quality domain. Wouldn’t mess with Aspirins.com for its possible term conflict.

Some good domains here, but not major buys even at those prices. If this portable was acquired at those prices, it would be a great buy today.

MunicipalBonds.com has value, the net and org sold for four figures.

    I like Downhill.com
Beautytips.com would be easy to move
    Bankloans.com is excellent. But I’d prefer Bankloan.com
    Doesn’t BOFA own loan.com?

It’s the one worders that are the bargains on the list. The two worders can be bought for around list price in today’s drop auctions.

Bankloans.com points to a Twitter handle with 3 tweets. Why list Bankloans.com as their website when it will reforward all traffic back to this handle?

Unless this domain increases business to their 866 phone number, don’t see the best use of this domain name.

Spending $5k on Lawsuits (.com)? Hard to imagine.
