We have numbers for the three new gTLD’s that launched this week.
.Top which launched on the November 18th has according to ntldstats.com 10,298 domains registered.
The registry for .Top is “Jiangsu Bangning Science & Technology Co.,Ltd.” which is also the backend for the extension and is also a domain name registrar
Out of the 10,298 domain names registered, Jiangsu registered 2,521 of the domains.
Another China based registrar, Chengdu West Dimension Digital Technology Co., Ltd. had the most domain name registrations at 5,501 domain names
For Chengdu .Top is its third most registered new gTLD. Its top 2 are .Wang with almost 50,000 registrations and almost 15,000 .XYZ registrations.
I did a quick look at the .TOP zone file and saw a LOT of numeric domain names.
.Quebec which also launched on the 18th has 4,902 domain names according to namestat.org making it the 9th most popular Geo new gTLD.
Another professional new gTLD was launched yesterday into General Availability (GA) by Rightside.
.ENGINEER wound up with only 523 registrations after Sunrise and its Early Access Program (EAP).
It got 360 domain names registered on its first day of GA the rest of the domains were registered by trademark holders in Sunrise and by those who paid extra for early access in the EAP.
There is already a .ENGINEERING which obviously got a first movers advantage and has almost 1,900 registrations.
Only so many types of engineering … And engineers tend not to freelance or operate small businesses — unlike, say, photographers (.PHOTOGRAPHY) or plumbers (.PLUMBING).
