.Club which just went into general availability today had over 25,000 registrations in less than its 1st full day, according to the zone files that were just updated
Ntldstats.com, is reporting 25,776 .Club domain names in the Zone file placing it as the 6th top new gTLD’s in terms of domain names in the root zone files.
Colin Campbell told TheDomains.com earlier today that the registry did not register any domains itself and all but 46 domains which the registry activated for its own use were registered by third parties. Colin also told us that .Club would be well into the top 10 in terms of new gTLD domain name registrations today which turned out to be bang on.
.Club domain registrations pushed the total amount of new gTLD domains in the zone files over 711,000.
.Guru still leads all new gTLD’s topping the 55,000 mark at 55,355 domains.
.Berlin is now over 47,000 registrations.
.Photography is closing in on 35K registrations and the IDN Chinese Online topped 30,000 registrations.
On the registrar side Godaddy.com has just under 25% of the new gTLD market with Enom, 1and1.com United-Domains and Hexonet shooting way up to become the number 5 registrar for new gTLD domains. The top 5 new gTLD registrar account for more than 50% of all new gTLD registrations.

This number is very didapponting, guru was first out of the gate, and didnt have months of advertising, and emails going out along with a huge push by Godaddy behind it.
I noticed a lot of TM violations in .club ie) NASCAR.club not a good way to start off.
This was the most generic gtld which worked on the right side of the dot very well. The pre registrations were under $15, with targets of 1 million than onto 5 million seem like a hoop dream at this point.
These guys spent a lot of money to win the auction, but they passed off a lot of domainers with the holdbacks, and Sedo listings into 6 figures.
Their whois system wasn’t show reserved very well either, should have been labelled better. Many domains show as not registered on whois, but show taken when attempting to register.
I saw a lot of junk registered as well BodyBuild.club? Meaningless .com available
These type of names will drop next year, 100K is going to be a stretch, I think many got to see a small implosion into the gtlds today. Even though it may be hailed as a success, I feel today was a failure in terms of .club’s pedigree coming in today with all the support. Basically every major reg house sent out an email letting customers know .club was live today.

You make some good points Richard, the key for the registries is what do they do after the initial push behind general availability ? Because there are new extensions coming out week after week, these things are like movies. Excitement around the premiere but there are new movies coming out next week, how is foreign distribution, cable, netflix, dvd/blu ray sales.
These registries are going to have to get top dollar for the great names they held back as premium.

i tried to search for a bunch, came up empty handed. oh well. i really don’t get the popularity though. not everything is a club nor works with club at the end of it.
