Perhaps an interesting stat would be the .COM to new TLD registration multiple

    Currently…

    .COM 113 million
    new TLDs 332k

Consequently there are currently approximately 340 times as many .COM registrations as all the new TLDs combined. No doubt that will change in the coming year but I still believe there will be a considerable gap for the foreseeable future.

Approximately 2 million new .COM registrations each month (compared with same day the previous month). (2,462,156 01 Feb – 01 March). Zones are not monolithic in that domains drop and new domains are registered each day. The new gTLDs are currently going through their Sunrise and Landrush phases so deletions are minimal. It would not be logical to make comparisons with .COM on registration activity until after the first anniversary of the Landrush in each new gTLD.
