I know 99% of you could give a crap about a .Pro domain name but in the legal world there isn’t any different between a .pro and a .com domain and insurance.pro, as about a  generic domain as you can get, just got hit with a UDRP.

The complainant is not listed but there is a trademark on the term “Insurance Pro”

The domain is being re-directed at the moment to Allprodomains.com which has a lot of great .pro domain names listed for sale or lease including:

BANKRUPTCY.PRO

DISCRIMINATION.PRO
LAWFIRM.PRO
LITIGATION.PRO
PATENTS.PRO

All of which are again as generic as you can get.

We will be tracking this one.

This surely raises some very large red flags when someone/company considers paying thousands for one of the new tlds . Who is going to risk paying large sums when they could lose it in a flash ?.

the outcome of this will be very telling, udrp panel member has become a very profitable job. The laws are in place to provide them a nice stream of fees, seriously almost 2014, how can this still happen…

From what I’ve seen most UDRP panelists will disregard the TLD and use the SLD to decide whether it matches the tm in question.

Now it remains to be seen whether the opposite also holds true. This is a perfect case for a RDNH imo.

And johnuk has rightly said that this might be the litmus test for new gTLDs – if the extension is included then it would be extremely worrying for new gTLDs – the URS only costs $250.

    Samit,

I am pretty sure I have seen some .TV’s taken in UDRP’s and the .TV was not disregarded, it was why.

.pro is interesting but the best .pro names seem already registered, like com.pro (“I buy” in italian)

Why an Insurance Company have more right than another to acquire insurance.com?

Dosen’t make sens. I will laugh to see a trade mark UDRP another trade mark holder lol…

    UDRP is a joke

Yes, a Dangerous Joke at that. The UDRP has become soooo corrupted over the years it is now nowhere near what it was supposed to be. You know what I would like to see, someone TM “ICANN” or “WIPO” for something like “jokes” and then UDRP them both !!
