Kim Dot Com’s Mega.co.nz Is Buyer of Mega.co Sold For $60K

Just over two weeks ago we reported that the domain name Mega.co was sold for $60,000 to JustCloud.com

However today the domain name Mega.co is being forwarded to Kim Dot Com’s Mega.co.nz. cloud service.

For Mega.com acquiring the domain name Mega.co makes a lot of sense not just as a URL shorterner, but I’m sure there was a good deal of typo traffic going to the .co domain name.

The domain name was owned by Rocket Name

According to Rocketname.com, it’s the fifth biggest .co sale to date after O.Co ($350,000), e.Co ($81,000), cruises.co ($82,500) and mesothelioma.co ($76,000) but as a reader points out below its actually the 6th biggest .co public sale including Mike Mann’s sale of Business.co.

Once again congrats to the buyer and seller.

    without owning the DOT COM…
    a potential disaster in the making (Youtube comes to mind) even with all his Millions for marketing the bleeding will be huge…
    How much is Mega.com worth now? uffff!
    even worse paradoxically his nick name is;
    Kim DOT COM
    a very large majority of the .co large sales end redirecting to the DOT COM .
    Go figure!

    The Water Cooler has been laced with the Londoner ( Pink Kool Aid ) once again…:)

    Anybody can point his/her site to any other site…
    Either he is embarrassed of being a mediocre extension (remember he is DOTCOM) or the actual buyer is sending a subliminal message. (For Sale)
    60k down the drain if you ask me.

    @TheDomains – as a few people said earlier, Kim does NOT own mega.com.

    @Domo Sapiens – knowing morality of the buyer (justcloud), they probably want people who mistype the domain as mega.co to stay convinced that it is the proper address, and after the number of visitors grows, they’ll launch their own scam site just like backupgenie.com and others. Or they added it to mega.co.nz partner programme in hope to earn some money in the meanwhile. Or both. :-)
