American Airlines Files UDRP Over F Bomb Domain Name

American Airlines filed a UDRP on the domain name f*ckamericanairlines.com today with the National Arbitration Forum

While we are use to seeing companies going after “sucks” domains its pretty rare to see a company going after a domain containing the F bomb.

This appears to be only the 8th UDRP ever filed over a domain containing the F Bomb and only the 2nd since 2007.

By contrast there have been 107 UDRP filed over domains containing the word “sucks”.

The domain F*ckAmericanAirlines.com is owned by a Richard Zuhlke of Spain and the domain was registered just a few weeks ago on August 10, 2013.

The domain is going to a Godaddy Placeholder so it wouldn’t qualify for any sort of grip site free speech argument.

However this is not the first time this domain was registered.

The domain was registered back in 2007 under privacy then dropped in April 2011 and sat unregistered for over two years until a few weeks ago when it was registered by the current domain holder.

Why American Airlines didn’t just go and register the domain when it was available rather than filing a UDRP falls within our weekly post of failed brand protection trademark registrations of available domains.

There are tons that start with F*ck and here are a few of my favorites that start with the letters A and B after the F word. It would take hours to go through the whole list.
