105 New gTLD Pass ICANN: .Google; .Vegas; .Brussels; .NFL; .MLB; .Nissan; .Irish; .Jeep; .Barclays

105 new gTLD applications passed ICANN Initial Evaluation (IE) on Friday.

A few geographic area new gTLD’s passed including .Brussels; .Osaka; .Yokohama; .Bayern

Leading the way on the .Brand applications were the new gTLD applications of Google for .Google; The National Football League’s application for .NFL; Major League Baseball’s application for .MLB and .Baseball;  The car makers applications for .Mitsubishi,  .Nissan and .Jeep;  the worldwide Hotel chain .Hyatt; the .Com and .Net Registry provider Verisign’s application for .Verisign; MetLife Insurance for .Metlife; Nationwide Insurance’s application for .Nationwide; the watch maker .Piaget; the international bank .Barclays ; the Mumbai Indians “a popular and prominent cricket franchise representing the city of Mumbai in the Indian Premier League (owned by Reliance Industries Limited) application for .Indians and brand protection company Fairwinds application for .Fairwinds;

On the generic side some interesting uncontested applications that  passed IE included .Vegas which was found by ICANN not to qualify as a Geographic area but passed as a generic; a quasi community of .Irish; Domain Dan Negari’s application for .XYZ; and Google’s application for .Dot or pronounced Dot Dot and Google’s application for .You.

With these results ICANN has looked at all applications with a prioritization number through  1,600 deciding 1,488 of them.

It looks like ICANN will easily hit its goal of getting through Initial Evaluation by the end of August
