A UDRP has been filed against Vertical Axis, Inc. on the domain name Lulac.com

Although the Complainant is not listed, the most likely suspect is The League of United Latin American Citizens, which was established in 1929 and operates under the domain names Lulac.org and Lulac.net

As for Lulac.com that domain name goes to a parked page where it returns a lot of links containing the world ‘Hispanic”

Vertical Axis has owned the domain name since at least 2005 and maybe since the original registration date of 2001.

Since Lulac is a non-profit organization, why would they stand a chance to win this dot com case?

I don’t get it. The complainant has privacy protection on the udrp? O.o

Lulac.org was reg’d in 1996. Might have been a good idea to grab the .COM back then…

I am Brent Wilkes, Executive Director of LULAC. We did in fact register the LULAC.com domain along with LULAC.org and LULAC.net. A website designer we had in 2001 was attempting to transfer the domain from Network solutions to Verio and let the registration expire. Which is apparently when Vertical Axis grabbed it and set up their parked page. We repeatedly tried to contact them to get it back but they never responded. Because of the frequent complaints that we get when people navigate to the LULAC.com address with the attention of visiting out web site we decided to take this action to recover the .com domain which uses our trademarked name.

    Hey Brent I get it.

The only thing that may work against you is 2001 was a very long time ago

LULAC can be an acronym for thousands of phrases. The domain holder may have a plan to use it for his future business whatever it may be. Why should a particular person or company have a monopoly on it?
