Over the Labor day weekend we told you that several gambling domain names were sold to a private firm.

As of Yesterday the domain name, GoFactoryOutlet.com which was seized by HomelandSecurty back in December 2010 with over 75 other domain names they said were engaged in the sale of counterfeit goods, has a new owner.

The domain is currently registered to:

New Ventures Services, Corp
Domain Registrar
PO BOX 459
Drums, PA 18222
US

The domain name is going to a parked page at InternetTraffic.com with a for sale link at the top.

Its still not clear how these domains are getting sold, what the procedure for buying them is or how much revenue the government is getting for the domains.

When New Ventures Services is involved, it is never clear “how”… and likely never will be. I wouldn’t bet that the Government saw a penny for any of these names.

I would be very interested to know how these domains are making their way to private owners. If folks on this blog do not know how they are being appropriated, it really does raise some serious transparency questions. Obviously, the domain industry is not being properly informed of something that would seem like basic information a government agency would be expected to provide.

Also, what is New Ventures Services?

My website hosting expired some time ago, but I kept paying for the name while I decided what direction I wanted to take with the site. But now, I’ve just noticed that New Venture is the registrant of my domain so even if I wanted to open the web hosting service again, I have to go though them. .
