Just crossing the Sedo.com sales wire is the domain name Channel.com which just sold for $125,000

The domain was owned by the Web Technology Group of London and the domain is pending transfer at Sedo.

As to whom the new owner maybe, it could be any number of TV or broadcasting companies around the world, but to make a wild guess, I would go with Channel Television Limited of St Helier, Jersey, also of the United Kingdom which brought and lost a UDRP last year for the domain name Channel.Tv

We will let you know when we find out.

Congrats to both the buyer and seller

Good domain. Good brand for a TV player. Not an unreasonable buy price.

If I were marketing director for Chanel, I would have already bought it.

@Nic – A ‘typo’ of the brand name Chanel is worth US$125K?!

But, anyway, Channel.com is a great name and well worth the
    price!

    MHB –

I would be suprised if Channel Television Limited of St Helier were the buyers as they probably have less viewers than you have readers, I might be wrong though, about the purchase not the viewing figures.

    Re Chanel:

They are a hundred year old company making $3 billion a year selling a dream to affluent women, they dont need to buy typos for $100,000.

With all the crazy prices flying around, this seems pretty cheap.

Someone got a bargain on that age, and keyword domain. Agreed with recent pricing, it was obviously an out of touch corporate user who sold it, no reason that domain could not get double.

Well congratulations to everyone involved with the sale, obviously the buyer can see a worthwhile investment with the name. How does Sedo get accredited with sale however? Simply having it listed within their marketplace? Will be keeping any eye on what they use it for, with the keyword it is certainly solid.
