People Maybe Learning: Stats On Whitney Houston Domain Registrations Are Just A Fraction Of Michael Jackson

Last night Elliotsblog.com,  reported a “huge surge in domain names at Godaddy.com” which contained the name of Whitney Houston.

However the article goes on to state that “Hundreds of related domain names have been registered in fewer than 24 hours since news of her death hit the media.”

While its pathetic to see anyone registering these type of domain names, I found the report of only a few hundred domain registrations as good news that maybe people have by in large learned the rules of the domain world.

You might remember that when Michael Jackson died there were reports of 11,000 related domain names registered through Godaddy.com in the first week, with 3,700 registered in the first day.

There were also reports after Michael Jackson’s death reports of over 400 domain names up for sale on ebay.

A search on eBay.com today only showed 48 domains with Whitney Houston for sale.

While its never good to see these types of domain names registered and put up for sale, so far the numbers are a lot better then Michael Jackson.

Good point, but Michael Jackson was much more universally known. He was also about to embark on a huge world tour.

Elliot should rename his blog to idiots blog. This is not news. The same thing happens everytime someone of notoriety dies or their is killing or a crash or a ….

Even though its not news I do find it humorous that there is a similar discussion going on here regarding the JZ Beyonce kid.

From what I can see domainers in the know have called it this way…..

    Register Whitney name = BAD
Register Blue Ivy or whatever = who knows, time will tell

The question that panelists try and answer (which is not ez at times) is –

What was in the mind of the registrant at the time they registered the domain name? What was/is the their intention?

With respect to the Beyonce kid names I will leave that question for you genius domainers and the idiot blogger to answer.
