I asked my 15 yo daughter a couple of months ago “have you heard of Lana Del Ray?” She said “duh, yeah…who hasn’t” – I thought that was a good sign as we’re in the UK.

Congrats to her and her family – they must be uber proud!

It is so exciting that we know Lizzy and her entire family. We were so thrilled watching her on Saturday Night Live and now she’ll be appearing on Letterman. WOW!!! Congratulations to such a sweet, beautiful and talented young lady. We’ll all be watching again!!

Success is based on perseverance and she definitely has it along with the charismatic looks and melancholic voice. Congratulations and upwards!

As far as I’m concerned, this music sucks. Just my opinion, but it’s shared by more people than those who think oppositely, particularly after that ‘electrifying’ SNL ‘performance’.

Jim – I don’t like Country & Western or Gangsta Rap; but I don’t bring down those that perform these genres. Every type of music has its fans and when one doesn’t have something positive to say it’s good karma points to not say anything at all 🙂

    Good for her.

This should put the unwarranted criticisms to rest.

She’s a lovely young woman with a great career ahead of her.

    😉

    She is a natural –

@Jim – It is just sad that some folks are simply not happy with themselves to the point they are not capable of seeing a bright star that gives hope to a new generation of fucked up kids with no direction. Go back under your rock caveman

@Acro don’t quit your day job to become a music journalist.. “charismatic looks and melancholic voice”. All in good fun, but your characterization doesn’t sound like much of a compliment….

But Lana is very beautiful and talented and her sound is unique and needed in an industry that seems to produce one artist after another who sound almost the same.

Glad to see she’s gaining popularity quickly. I preordered her iTunes album a while back, need to sign in and download it.

Making it in the music business is extremely difficult. Wow and congratulations to Lana and her family who must be very proud.

Thanx for the fun, domain industry, to hear about Lizzie Grant/Lana Del Rey and watch her rise. I caught it just in time to remember the original Video Games video before it got pulled.

@ Michael Costello, look forward to seeing you, your brother, and the other domainer musicians perform someday as well!

some absolutely incredible marketing by whoever her handlers are. To go from one of 100’s of me-too singers to lip injections and “gangster nancy sinatra” in an extremely crowded field was impressive to say the least.

Then she bombed on SNL and took a lot of heat – and now that will be a part of her story – quite possibly to her advantage in the long run…..fascinating stuff. She’s off to a start most only dream of – will be interesting to watch.

There is a large circle of female singers, all with strong voices today, Lana Del Rey left that circle and did something amazing with her voice. She put it into a very rare, very special genre of music that isn’t common, and did an amazing job doing so. Talent.
