Stuart Lawley CEO of the ICM Registry, Spent 6 minutes on CNN this morning chatting about the .XXX extension and the new gTLD program

It was quite a good interview for Stuart but not so much for Pauline Chiou who conducted the interview who kept confusing the new gTLD program with .XXX leading her to ask why each .XXX domain is gojng to be so expensive at $185,000 per domain.

Well Stuart quite patiently explained to Ms. Chiou the difference between a domain registration and applying to run and extension.

One of the more interesting statements by Mr. Lawley during the interview was while the fee for applying for a new gTLD is around $200,000 to actually get any application approved through  ICANN, applicants better plan on spending at least $1M.

.XXX will get getting a ton of free press over its rollout which should only increase awareness.

Pauline Chiou was confused because she thinks she can be the next XXX gal.
