The domain name Qoutes.com sold on NameJet.com today for $27,300.

This is another one of  John Zuccarinis domains that Namejet.com has been auctioning off

In other NameJet.com auctions today Grover.com sold for $5,400, Shio.com sold for $3,900 and Gou.org sold for $1,600

According to my tally well over $130K of Mr. Zuccarinis have been sold on Namejet in the last week.

Not sure I would pay $27k for a domain that has no value outside of typo traffic but there are a lot of millionaire that have been made on the back of these kind of domains over the years so what the hell do I know.

Your thoughts are always welcome

It seems like it’s in their account already. It’s already forwarding to a free gift scam site.

“Typos” have got to be the single scuzziest aspect of the ‘domain industry’.

(excluding the drop process, of course)

Quotes on products and services encapsulates or might be the actual pinnacle of what the free enterprise Internet is or has become and that is Why CJ Lovik continues to own Quotes.com and why I have CheapQuote(s).com.

Interestingly Dotzup DNS (and similar pages) are used for for the typo CheapQoute(s).com as well – but it does not appear as if CJ owns them.

It would be interesting to see if CJ was in the auction and how he values the typo domain – because in my book someone looking to go to an eventual production site at Quotes.com who types in the typo instead and ends up at GetYourQuote.com (or whatever) aint buying anything there.

    I say – poor investment

They are the industry, or I should be a little less dramatic, they are a major part of the the industry. From Frank to joe blow, for many years and to this day they fuel the buying, the very buying Michael reports on at NJ.

I’d never buy a typo – my brain doesn’t work that way. Quality, or nothing.

Typos should be handed over to the owner of the correctly spelled domain by ICANN.

…the darkside, land of whois privacy and offshore holding companies 😉

Most of those were registered in 1999, any idea when was the earliest indication that people could make money parking typos, was it earlier than 1999 ?

Were there any parking companies back then or were they used as redirects to websites ?
