SYLT.com Sells For $50k on Sedo

April 9, 2011 by Michael Berkens

A nice Geo domain name  Sylt.com just sold on Sedo for 35,000 Euro’s or about $50K.

As I’m sure you all know, “Sylt is an island in northern Germany, part of Nordfriesland district, and well known for the distinctive shape of its shoreline. It belongs to the North Frisian Islands and is the largest island in North Frisia. The northernmost island of Germany, it is known for its tourist resorts, as well as for its 40 km long sandy beach”

The domain is already resolving to its new owner.

Sylt.de is also a developed site dedicated to the island.

it’s a very good news … if a so strange domain has been sold for a so high price, then, we all may hope to sell our (much better and cheaper) domains 🙂

In theory, at this point, no 4 Letter .COM name should ever drop

If a LLLL does drop, it will likely be bought for the FREE Address Space value

I spent the worst holiday of my life on Sylt.

It was Christmas / New Years and we rented a house on Sylt for 1 week. The coldest place I have ever been in my life – and I’ve been to Antarctica mind you!!!

I ended up with pneumonia and to top it all off I got a tooth infection and had to have an emergency root canal on New Years day . Needless to say, there were no dentists open on Sylt and so through a friend of a friend we found a retired 80 year old dentist who performed a root canal on me in his home without any sedative or pain killers.

Honestly, that trip was straight out of a horror movie!!!

So when I hear “Sylt” it makes me cringe!

    But great domain!

Considering that Sylt probably has the highest concentration of millionaires and billionaires at any given one time anywhere in Germany – I’d say $50,000 was cheap!

Antarctica, that’s nuts. When did you go? Any photoblog for it?
