The domain name Service.net just sold for $19,000 on Sedo tonight.

In a few other auctions that just closed, the domain Oxi.com sold for 8,000 Euro’s or around 12K

The domain Allspice.com sold for $7,657, yes its trademarked but just since 2006.

Watchlive.com sold on one bid for $15,670.

Rh.net sold for an even $10K.

With about 3 hours to go (as of time of publication) the domain OnlinePay.com has a bid of $32K and has met reserve.

Pms.com got up to a bid of $40K but did not reach reserve.

COLOUR.com reached as high as $83K but also failed to meet the reserve which was stated as between $50K-$100K.

Had the both sold it would have been a $250K day for Sedo.

What I want to know is how Sedo keeps doing this?

They don’t have the registrar placements to make the sales like Fabulous, GoDaddy, or Aftnernic.

Are they just picking up the phones and making it happen?

@ John – It’s all in the numbers. Sedo has 18 Million domains for sale and sells a bit over 120 domains out of that enormous database per day.

Thanks Kevin for you answer ; I did not know they have 18 million.

I gues my point is really that lately, of the last year or less, have been just tearing it up on the very high end sales.

I don’t remember Sedo pulling this off before, and really nobody else as far as I can tell is replicating huge sales like this consistently anywhere else, even on a smaller scale.

    @Bulls & others

We as ordinary domainers would have it hard to fetch those fancy prices. But if you like steady income may be at Bido.com you can get it – I’ve sold lots of domains at Bido and I am happy Bido provides a service which to me other big names have failed to do so for domainers like myself.

For instance I listed — “UFIT.US” — a couple of days ago and within a day it got 10 votes from other domainers and it has been sent to the auctions as a result, and will be auctioned within a maximum of 30 days.

I know part of the reason that this domain got the required votes was because of “UFIT.COM” which was sold at 15k not long ago, but still Bido is a place that your small domains will get good exposure to a good crowd. You can also buy some nice names for a fraction of the price.

If you are already registered at BIDO, the follwoing is my other enteries which you can vote for!

Kevin is correct. Pure mathematical model.

@em…..that still does not explain the surge in big ticket sales.

A lot of the sales were from the GreatDomains auction which ended yesterday.

I think I found the answer, Frank Schilling is selling some of his great domains through Sedo :
