by Michael H. Berkens

The domain name Effort.com sold yesterday on NameJet.com for $17K.  Its a nice one word .com but don’t think it would have gotten any bids if it was say in the live Domainfest auction with  a starting bid of $20K.

Here are some other notable sales including more one word domains:

searchengine.org  $8,700

streetfights.com  $8,700

coinmarket.com   $7,100

telescopes.org  $4,800

tricks.net    $4,200

You.info     $3,360

personalproperty.com   $3,350

vqw.com   $2,999

stroller.org   $2,900

bigmonster.com   $2,200

prosecuted.com,  another one word domains went for just $650

Finally a pretty rare 2 letter domains, ww.biz could only manage to get $1,200.

Hey Mike, Interesting list and definitely agree about the 20K reserve comment…

How does one go about getting a name listed on Namejet. I’m sure most people by now are aware that they list a limited number of private party names. Any information would be appreciated.

I believe they have a requirement that the domains be registered at Enom for you to list your domains at NJ for sale.

Beyond that I think you just need to contact NJ about listing.

    They charge I believe a 15% commission.

Wow, even at $17k it was more than it’d see on any forum. I suppose afterr the fee is paid it isnt so great but still in line with the current market imo.

i ive bailed on namejet, its become harder to apply the same metrics and mindset to expired names, and reserve auctions in the same “store”, or system.

its tease to have to research, committ, bid and then after about 30 minutes of water torture runup bidding against namejet reserve finally get a sense of where the domains can be bought.

best to all who endure it.

So it seems in relation to effort.com, even Mike is confused.

I find these silly private sale auctions on Namejet to be misleading.

Particularly when you are the only bidder on a backordered name and, contrary to their terms, you end up bidding against the house, up to some secret reserve.

    For example, their terms say:

“Private Auction: Participation is limited to certain NameJet users that have placed a backorder on the domain name slated for auction and have agreed to these Terms of Use.”

But if you are the only bidder, then the house (Venue) bids against you.

I am surprised after all the Halvarez business these auctions are not more transparent.

In the friendliest possible way to the good people at eNom.

Halvarez bought NameJet recently with all the money he made from shill bidding.

I don’t deal in legal services or law names, but Prosecuted.com seems like a real bargain for $650. Of course, there seems to be a lot of bargains, these days.
